Power Boost

I realized that I am running quite a bit of things to one single surge protector (but it is a good one), and that I am very much energy conservative. I am going to be adding a 19" Widescreen Viewsonic in a couple weeks and thought to ask this:

Is there some sort of product that will sort of amplify power? In other words it will take so much little of power and give it a boost to produce more power safely and efficiently?

Just an idea. Maybe something like it exists.

And one last question since I know NOTHING about PSU's, how do I test the 'rails' or consistency of my power supply easily?

Thanks!

1) Such a device is impossible. Think back to your physics classes in high school. Also see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy

2) Please, please don't open your computer up and mess with the power supply if you know nothing about computers. If your computer runs, your power supply works.

Lol, I am not that uneducated AgentQ1, but I wanted to just throw that out there and see. Usually someone will say "Yea they are working on new technology like that," or "omg you idiot that's been out for years." I just wanted to check and see.

How could I mess with my PSU to conserve energy? lmfao, Give me a little credit here guy.

Geeze, it's been out for years. All you need is a flux capacitor, and some plutonium (preferrably from "The Russians," if at all possible)

Find one of those battery-looking like things, except they have the prongs on only one end. Right after, and I must stress RIGHT AFTER, unplugging the power supply, quickly grab the metal part of a screwdriver, and touch it across those two pins. That will easily give your PSU at LEAST another 6-7 MPG (or 9.6-11.2 KmPG).

J/K man, I don't really have a clue. :D

Ahaha, that brightened my day.

No, no such thing exists, nor will it ever. You cannot boost little power into a lot unless you are adding energy from something else... like plutonium... or gasoline.

If you were only worried about it spikeing/peaking past the limits of the outlet or surge protector you could have a UPS battery backup that could add power from its battery. They can also adjust for too much coming from the outlet and clean up the power. handy to have, but hte out needs to be able to supply enough power for the items.
