Powder coating

I am thinking about getting a Cooler Master Praetorian or Wave and having it powder coated inside and out. I'm wondering about the little door that covers the front ports on both cases. Does it easily come apart? Can you get it powder coated while the door is assembled? Will it go back together after it's been coated?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure about the case, but if you need someone to do powdercoating check out www.cecoatings.com Hes a good friend of mine, does great work. He'll beat anyones price as well. I think hes done work on here before for someone else as well.

I also don't have experience with that case, but just in case no one on this board can help:

Go to your local Best Buy and look at the top of the line Compaq, its the same case with the coolermaster logo replaced by Compaq's.

You can fiddle with the case and see if the door comes off there.

Also, I'm pretty sure you would have to have all pieces of the case disassembled for powdercoating.

Yes it comes off I just seen a picture of it. It has a spring clip.

There's really nothing wrong with using your old oven. So long as it gets to a certain temp and can maintain the temp allowing the parts to cure. That's how most DIY'ers do it. They make kits so you can powder coat smaller parts in your own home. If your oven was big enough you could probably even do your case.

lol, nah. He has his own house. Thats just a spare oven he uses for the time being. It gets the job done though. All that matters is that the oven gets hot enough. I think hes currently working on building and oven of his own thats around 6 foot x 7 foot. That way he can do much larger parts.

Ya I use a spair oven for small parts. I use a Huge oven for large parts. I can accomadate anything upto the size of 2-3rear ends at once.

I do ceramic and Thermal coatings also..

anything else you would like to know....

I can now do ANYTHING.... got a rolling sprint car chassis I can do em..

I guess I should update my site a little.. and be more specific about my Oven and what I can do.

yup

If you want to do the chassis, you'd need to drill the rivets. You could always do just the panels.

ech... that sucks big time... you could spend days drilling out and then re-riveting (mind you, I have never seen black rivest myself, so you have to paint/color them afterwards) a case. I guess I will have to paint the inside of my praetorian. Damn, and that's not a clean or easy process either.

Thanks to everyone for all of the information. I went down to the local Best Buy but there wasn't a Cooler Master case in sight. The lack of air flow in the Wave Master that people have been talking about has me worried. The case is going into a very hot room.

When I decide on a case I'm going to check local shops to get prices. If they try to screw me then maybe cecoatings will get my money.

GNNR- get aluminum rivets and have the annodized black. The people at the anno place might look at you funny, but it should work.

Just a friendly reminder that that part of your site needed to be updated.
