So, over the past few days, I have been having some problems with some things and I decided to reinstall Windows. No problems with that, but there is a problem with my storage drive, a Maxtor 300GB SATA drive. It has 3 partitons, but only 1 is showing up. The problem with that partition is that:

a) it is showing up as being the whole disk (even in Partition Magic)
b) the file system for the drive is "BAD", according to Partition Magic
c) attempting to open it in My Computer says that it has no file system and asks if I would like to format it

Now, normally I wouldn't mind just formatting a drive, but this drive has all of my music and movies and other files (not extremely important, just a hassle to put back on and I really don't want to lose them). Now, I've been browsing for some recovery programs, and I found one called "PC Inspector smart recovery" which has gotten back a few of my music and movie files. I definitely don't have room on my Raptor to put it all.

If anyone knows of a program that will let me select things that I want off of the drive (I tried Recover4All as well, but it says "F: is not accessible") I would greatly appreciate it. Free, preferably, if you can help it.

I've recently used the "Recover It All" software, and it worked pretty good. You first have to do a full physical scan, then a full logical scan of the selected file systems.

I was able to recover about 80% of my data from a bad RAID 1 array using this utility.

NOTE: The free version will only allow you to scan, you cannot actually restore. You would have to buy the full version which is $100. But at least it would tell you if the data could be recovered.
 
Seems as though hard drive recovery software is very profitable ;).

I found a program that lets me remove a single directory at a time, but I have to scan the hard drive EVERY time.

Thanks for the links, though. Still looking for it. If I don't find anything I'll just format it (I got my Dungeon Siege save file, so it's all good :p).
