Heys guys..just wondering. Is it safer to post pictures on forums uploaded from your pc or a photo hosting site....safer as far as your personal information.
thanks
Please move if wrong area.

What personal information would you be worried about? Considering that this forum doesn't allow uploading directly from your PC, the question is moot, but I don't understand why you'd be worried about personal information.

A couple ways this can be answered from the way you worded your question

"Uploaded from your PC" , perhaps something like HTTP File Server from your own computer.
(Like http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/ )

-In this case they have your IP and from your IP they can (with the right tools) get your physical location (if you aren't behind proxies) and if they want to go deeper into it, they CAN get your real info (name etc whatever you told the ISP, some people are sneaky and have connections)

From a photo hosting website, the most they can get is the information you give through your pictures. stuff on your photo hosting site profile. The model and make of your camera (if you used one). I think most modern camera's have a secret watermark or their default filenames give out the Make, Model, Time Taken, etc.

tl;dr
you're not that safe on the internet, unless you stay behind 7 proxies!

Either way the hosting folks have your IP logged regardless, as well as your location.

The difference is if you're using software to upload directly from your machine: you don't know exactly what they're doing.

But if you use a legit service like Flickr (What I use for my screenshots and stuff), their Uploader tool is to be trusted.
