Lol I saw that auction on eBay, they went for super cheap. Would've bought them but I didn't want to waste my time parting it out.

Yeah, it was the first time in a while my conscience hasn't felt any kind of guilt from my spending. But of course, then my thinking was that I had gotten a nice deal, so I could reward myself by spending more than I ever planned and get a new camera. :D I think I have a problem.

Heres my current complete stereo setup now for my computer, just got my Energy RC-10 bookshelves in a couple weeks ago to complete it. It consists of a Harman/Kardon HK 3485 Stereo receiver thats rated for 150 watts per channel into 4 Ohms which the Energys are rated for 150 watts into 4 Ohms so it works out perfect. Its also paired with a 12" 400-watt Infinity subwoofer when I want some intense bass. The speakers are still in their break-in period but they already sound amazing and put out respectable bass for bookshelves. Anyway heres the pics:

The speakers have 14 gauge wire running to them but bare ends for now, probably going to get some spade connectors soon.

New speakers arrived today, XTZ 99.36 Black. Kinda borderline "computer audio", but i have it all plugged into my HTPC which all my music goes through.

:3 :3 :3

I purchased a pair of rosewood Energy RC-10's a year ago and have been adoring them ever since. I have a 255wpc Halfer DH-500 power amp I occasinoally break out, and a 20wpc Sonic Impact T-amp I use the rest of the time. I cant speak highly enough of the setup.

Thanks guys!

Inuz : Yeah, the Samsung has sticked around since 2006 and i do agree, i want bigger :)

matrix563 : I'm from SE but if i change it into US dollars ;

XTZ 99.36 : About 1000$
Harman Kardon 3490 : about 550$
XTZ 99 W12 Sub : 440$

Handsome set-up kniff! How do you find the ribbon tweeters of your XTZs?

I've only given them about 10 hours of run-in, but so far i like how they sound alot. Some people think they are too "sharp" but i disagree. I listen to all kinds of music, mostly metal, and what i like is that the different instruments are more detailed and separate, instead of a big soup. This is the general feel i have of the 99.36s, aswell as the bass going a bit deeper than my old QLN 604's.

I read somewhere that those are the same tweeters that Monitor Audio is using for their flagship Platinum line (not confirmed though?). Usually, MA also gets those comments about sibilance or sharpness. Well, it's really a matter of preference, isn't it? I'm a MA user myself, by the way.

I believe that is correct, they've been in the 99.36's since the release in 2007 if i'm not mistaken. It also sports an SEAS Excel driver that you can find in Steinway Lyngdorf speakers for 100k. All in all it's a priceworthy speaker that has gotten great reviews :)

Here's a product page for the black ones http://www.xtz.se/produkt.php?allmant=true&produkt=66&eng=true

There's also a gloss/shiny (think Samsung LCD) black version which is extremely popular, costs a little bit more and has another type of housing.

Some GS20 & 60 testing going on. The Gold Series from Monitor Audio sounds incredible. Maybe I should have gone with a bigger display (60" instead of 50", though that would have broke my wallet). I'm later going get GSFX for rear speakers as well. Don't mind the mess.

Devil_trigger, how's the PS212 subwoofer? I'm sortof thinking of getting a dual PS210 setup for my room. (and so i don't have to "upgrade" in the future. ;) ).

Here's my humble bedroom. Currently the Center speaker and the CD player above the TV have swapped places so i could angle it down more. And the PS3 had a YLoD a week ago.

Here is my Bose setup, alot of people here hate bose but I think they sound amazing

If you think Bose sounds amazing, then you haven't heard anything yet :)

maybe people who used Bose before didn't buy the monster cables, those are night and day difference, without them I could see why people would not warm up to Bose, but once you swap the included speaker wire, with some nice Monster ones, it is just unbelievable.

+1, you need to spend AT LEAST 100 on cables or they're junk;)

I think you need not be so lame and respect his opinion. He thinks they sound better, thats entirely up to him! He's as entitled to his opinion about Bose being awesome speakers as you are to your opinion about how crappy and how bad they are.

geez... it's his stuff.

yeah, but the problem is that there are so many other speakers/headphones that objectively reproduce audio the same or BETTER for a lower or equivalent price. and by better i mean more accurately in terms of frequency response and whatnot. so it isn't entirely a matter of his opinion.

furthermore, his comments about wires are fallacious. it's basically been proven to be not true (especially with monster cables).

also, his opinion blows.

I laughed so hard when I read this I snorted mountain dew... damn that stuff burns. Sadly this is the opinion of a lot people and I have stopped trying to change their opinion. If I ever get my place cleaned up (moved in two months ago and still havn't finished unpacking) I will post my Magnepans... just another set of speakers that sound infinately better than Bose and cost the same. Actually, I would put my Magnepans up against speakers that cost 3x as much.

For what I got it for I think it sounds amazing. I paid about $270 new and shipped and I only have a basic cable running the signal to it right now. Its nice and punchy for a 12-incher and when I want it to be very boomy and obnoxious its got plenty of room to do it lol. It vibrates every wall in my house. I also have a 12 inch 300 watt JBL for home HT setup that is really good as well and I paid about the same for that. Neither of them have let me down.

I might use my second sub output to run an outdoor subwoofer since I have little speakers out there and I love bass.:p

Nice, thanks for your opinion. The only reasons I'd consider the PS210 was because it would match my fronts, aesthetically speaking. But its even better to know that one PS212 can make the walls vibrate. :)

And R0N1, thats a Marantz is it not? How's it working out / sounding? Im thinking about returning my Harman Kardon AVR 340 for an SR6001. I saw one on Accesories4less for around $350. These refurbed. H/K's are so unreliable, this is my 2nd one in a half year. Or maybe its just my current bad luck streak. (AVR 340, my camera just died [using dads], PS3 YLoD'ed.)

edit: new thread... go here.
