250mhz x 9 = 2258mhz

it is running really cool 34c at idle and 41c under heavy load (CS:S).
board is a EPOX / EP-9NDA3+
cooling is from a Koolance EXOS

My biggest limiter is my ram. I am running 2 x 512mb sticks of Patriot PC4000ELK

I wouldn't say 2.6 ghz is out of range with better cooling and more voltage, perhaps higher if you're lucky and have nice memory.
 
Yeh i gave it a go and my memory craps out around 272fsb. I'll give a 5:6 memory divider a go and see how that goes.

My chip seems to be good for about 2655MHz (9x295) at 1.5v.
But my memory gets flaky over 280fsb (at 2.5-3-3-10 1T), I tried giving it more voltage, using looser timings, it just didn't want to go higher. I could get 290fsb semi-stable with 2T command rate, but that didn't seem to be worth it and going to 3-4-4-10 didn't seem to help any.
At this point I'm running 2520 (9x280) with ram at 280fsb, 2.5-3-3-10 1T timings.
Prime95 and 3dmark01 have been running for about 5 hours now so I'm about ready to declare it stable.

I can boot through 2700MHz/300FSB and bench at 295 but prime95 will BSOD or lock up on me all the way down to 285.
 
for some reason, when i went into 3dmark and ut2k4 after i oced to 300+ fsb, i would see tons of artifacts!!

I thought i killed my gpu! :eek:

How do i fix this problem!
 
Hrm, artifacts are generally a gpu related problem...Do you have the AGP lock on?

Ram and cpu OCs on the edge usually CTD, BSOD or lock things up, not artifact. Is your gpu OC'd? if so maybe trying backing that off.

for some reason, if I got higher than 270, video gets jumbo'd whenever I try to run 3dmark. Prime was 8 hours at 9x280 (highest my mobo can go) until I noticed that problem.
 
When i oced the cpu past 290fsb the graphics would artifact, even on stock gpu clocks...i backed it down a lil, and the artifacts where gone.... I set the agp to 67, is this right?
 
Yeah, pretty sure you need to set to 67 to lock it. It's what I've read/do...you can try 66 to see if it fixes anything?
 
i use modded bios that says "pci lock search" or something and i have it enabled...
Im not sure..

The fsb wont let me get past 280/290 without some serious artifacts in benches and games...

I cant figure this out!
 
Well I haven't gotten very far yet, but I am using stock cooling, and I think that's a serious issue as Everest and the Bios claim I'm idling @ ~ 38 - 41 and under load (prime95) I'm consistantly at 52 - 54.

I can't seem to get my Ram to go past about ~ 220 with the HT @ 5x.

When I had the HT @ 3x I had the FSB up past 260 and it seemed as if it would go further.

I really thought this ram (ballistix 3200) would go farther. Although in the little Everest Benchy it rates it (when ocd) as PC3800 DDR SDRAM with 2.5-2-2-5...

One question, how exactly does the HT divider work on the Neo2 - or at all? Because now I have it at 4x but it still posts the ram as being at the same speed as the FSB.
 
You want to keep the HT under 1000MHz. 260*4x=1040 would be bad. 220*5x=1100 would also be bad. 260*3x=780 is good. Most Neo2's seem to max out with a FSB around 315-330 no matter what your multiplier is.
 
Ok,

So how much does performance vary by the HT multiplier? (if this should go somewhere else, already been answered please point me in the right direction) As in, should I just crank the FSB to whatever it'll do and just use whatever multi nec? Or should I try and keep it at 5x?

One last thing, what's the difference between locking the RAM @ 200 and using the divider?

qweds, HTT does'nt effect performance very much as long as its above 800mhz. 4x Mutli is good untill 250mhz, then you need to drop it back to 3x.
 
Ive gotten to about 2850 and its stable...
Ive gotten to 2999 but it was unstable...
 
edit: sorry I thought this was 3200 not 3000 (my bad)

lots of info for 3200 (watercooled)

270x10 1/1 (2.5,3,3,10,1t) 3htt (1.65volts +10%) msi k8n neo2 (bios 1.36b) (completly stable)
280x10 1/1 (2.5,3,3,10,1t) 3htt (1.65volts +10%) (completely stable except for superpi)
290x10 1/1 (2.5,3,3,10,1t) 3htt (1.65volts +10%) (will boot windows but not stable)

No higher voltage, no relaxed timings, no divider will get me past 2.7:(
idle is 41c, load is 48c
I have no problems running at 270 1/1 4x htt or 1080fsb (but I see no performance increase)
I didn't need more than stock voltage until I passed 250x10
the 1.36 bios is the only one that will allow more than 10% voltage period! (still doesn't help me even at 1.83 volts (temps still fine))
I'm using g.skill (le) pc 4400 ram

Any other tricks out there to get this baby faster? (I think I've tried everything)

Am I stuck with 2.7 or blessed with 2.7?
