Hey guys,

I know I'm excited about my new rig and wanted to show it off. I figured I'd start a thread where everyone can post thier new rig that was a result of the price drops so we don't have a million threads about the new systems. You can post a system you had before and just upgraded the CPU or the whole new system you built, just make sure you say which case you fall under. I'll start off

All of these are brand new, this is gonna be my college rig:

CPU: X2 4200+
Mobo: Biostar T-Force 6100 mATX
RAM: 2 GB of G.Skill DDR2 800
HDD: 320 GB seagate 7200.10 SATAII w/ perpendicular recording technology
Case: Silverstone SG01-evolution black
PSU: xClio 450BL
GPU: eVga 7900gt KO reloaded
TV tuner: Visiontek ATI Xtasy 550 pro
Optical: Lite-On DVD+/-RW w/ DVD-RAM and Lightscribe ability
Extra: Cross-flow fan for SG01-e and sunbeam 4 port rheobus
Keyboard/Mouse: Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse set
Speakers: Logitech x-230 2.1 set
UPS: Some cyberpower one I picked up on sale

Stuff I already had:

Monitor: Samsung 19" LCD w/ DVI
Fans: 3 80mm coolermaster white LED fans
Tons of games including: HL2, BF2, D3, COD2, etc etc etc

I'll have pics tomorrow when my packages from newegg arrive (I have abould half of the parts, the rest are coming tomorrow via UPS)

Show and Tell about your new AMD system!

I bought two. One amd x2-4400 and the other amd x2-4800. One will run on an asus a8n sli deluxe and the other on an asus a8n vmMatx board inside my alienware case.

both will have two gigs of corsair ram xms and both will have wd raptors. Havent decided yet on what video card i will run in the 4400 both most likely the bfg 7800gtx and the 4800 will run my 7950gx2.

Currently running this:

X2 3800+ and a DFI Ultra-D.

Was going to upgrade to a AM2 X2 5000+ but with supplies being what they are and DFI not out with the Lanparty UT NF590 SLI-MR2/G yet I decided to just upgrade the proc for now. My new X2 4600+ is supposed to be delivered tomorrow according to the tracking number. That ought to tide me over until Vista MAYBE. ;) Besides, I got $200 shipped out of my X2 3800+ over the weekend on Ebay so it's not costing me much for this upgrade.

4800 x2
a8n32
7950 gx2
using my old raptors
ocz plat 3200
actually i was building the system before the drop it just coencided with the build and its all danger den cooled

No new rig but:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Opteron 148
2x EVGA 7900GT KO Superclock SLI
2GB OCZ Platinum DDR400
2x Seagate 160gb sata (no raid)

2gig gkill ddr2 800
x1800xt 256mb
sata-ide converter for my dvd drive (1 ide channel ftl)

hoping for 2.6 or so stable

total: 750 shipped. 250 dollars more for a similar conroe setup, and im' a po college student. /prays for k8l

My new baby :)

CPU: Am2 x2 4600+
MotherBoard: Gigabyte G1-M51GM-S2G
VideoCard: Sapphire Radeon x1900xt 512mb
Ram: Corsair 2GB DDR2 800
Monitor: Viewsonic vx2025wm
HardDrive: Samsung 300GB
PSU: Hipro 600w
Case: X-cruiser (black)

Really happy about my new system. Been debating for over a month whether i wanted to stick with Amd or go conroe. Gonna use it for college and whenever i have time to game. I think i saved myself a couple hundred $$ instead of buying a conroe system.

I just picked up an X2 4200 as well because ClubIT was out of 3800s. Nothing else is changing for me though..

A lot of us building machines for the upcoming semester/year of school.

I plan on building:

Centurion 541 mATX Case
400w FSP Fortran Group
Biostar Tforce6100
3000+ Venice (MAYBE a 3800+ X2, depends)
7300GT

I already have a 60GB drive, 4x512Mb DDR400 and an optical drive, will just use one of my old flat viewsonic CRT monitors most likely. And in regards to the video card... well as you can see i'm still using a 6600GT right now. I just don't play any new games enough to justify more power. I'm waiting for the next game I really want to get into... most likely Quake Wars or UT2007. I also may swap out the 7300GT for a 7600GT if I end up getting the cash.

It is the season for building!

I've got a 4600+ on the way to replace my 3500+ Venice. I don't think anything else in my system really needs upgraded.

ordered 3800 on monday, got it tuesday, oc'd to 2.5ghz, gotta change bios version to get above 2.5 ghz (max 250fsb this revision)

Ordered an X2 4600+ to replace my 3200+. I expect a pretty big jump that should last me another two years. I don't like to replace my system until I can double the speed...at a reasonable price.

Pretty much everything listed in my sig. I was waiting for the price drops... Some may ask, whats 200 bucks saved when throwing a 1000 bucks into a new system, but eh.

Not a new rig but thanks to the price drop, I was able to purchase used parts from people upgrading to new ones :).

AMD 64 2800+ - $0
DFI Infinity NF4X - $0
2 x 512 KVR - $20 AR
2 x 160 WD HD's - $20 AR
Ultra Xfinity 500 Watt - $10 AR
Visiontek X800 PCI-E - $50 AR
Toshiba DVD-R - $40

Had:
Thermaltake Case - $50 about 2 years ago
Turtle Beach Sound Card - $40 about 2.5 years ago
AMD Stock HSF - $0

I basically have $230 into my computer (which will be used for college).

haven't got everything yet, but this is what i'm building:

sg01-e black
x2 3800+ (939) w/ nt06 cooler
foxconn 6150k8md (if i can find the damn thing for sale before college, otherwise either the k8ma or the dfi rs482)
2gb corsair value ram
hard drive from current comp
xclio 450bl
whatever black bezel dvd burner is cheapest when i'm rdy to build

so far i have ordered the processor from clubit and i have the ram (was from fry's christmas sale - $99 after rebate), most likely picking up the sg01 and nt06 from local fry's to avoid shipping costs unless they go on sale somewhere, psu motherboard and dvd burner will likely be from newegg.

you may have noticed i'm missing a video card. that's cuz im gonna b using the integrated video until the dx10 cards come out, i'm currently running a fx5600, so this might even be an upgrade already!

200 saved is a lot, that's 20%!

Just gonna upgrade the proc in my sig rig to a 4800+X2..Next Ill wait for the 7900gtx fire sales and then Im set for Crysis!!

Got an Opteron 146 and an Asus A8R-MVP in the mail today, together with a Swiftech Apogee and some bits and pieces to complete my watercooling.
It bugs me that I couldn't afford the extra 65 bucks for a dualcore proc, but I think I'll manage ;)

eh only got a X2 4200+ and an upgrade for my memory.

Now at 2GB with OCZ

Only my major upgrade

Building today with the following, will put in sig once I get XP installed:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans AM2 119.00
ASUS M2N-E nForce 570 Ultra 97.99
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 Unbuffered 198.00

Seagate Barracuda 200GB SATA 1.5Gb/s Free
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 29.99
NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner 30.99

COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 59.90

Total before shipping: 905.85

Had:

Gateway 9500 laptop ->
Pentium III
512 MB of RAM
20 GB HD

owned since 2001. It was marketed as a "desktop replacement" :p

I hope and pray for a POST and single beep tonight!

New Rig:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+ (AM2) (Coming via FedEx tomorrow)
Foxconn C51XEM2AA-8EKRS2H Motherboard

200gb Maxtor SATA150 Hard Drive

Lite-On 16x DVD±RW Drive
Aerocool ZeroDBA 620w PSU
CoolerMaster Stacker (1st gen)
Samsung 940B LCD

Would it be worth it to grab another 6800GT to run in SLI? I won't be buying a new video card until next summer, with the DX10 cards coming out and all.

Also I'm hoping the 4600+ comes with the heatpipe stock cooler. If not I may end up getting a Thermalright Ultra-120 further down the road.

great system. im actually going with something very similar.

my case is the Lian Li PC-7B Plus II
I might go with the 4600 if i cant find the 5000+ soon
my power supply is the PC Power & Cooling 510

btw what kinda heatsink u using?

x2 4800+ (waiting for delivery)
x800xl (waiting for rma to return)
36G raptor
160G ide drive
dvd-rw drive
2G pc3200 ram , generic, bought at frys along time ago for $99 after MIR.

that is my secondary box :)

Now I'm waiting for opty 2xx series pricedrops :)

I figure athlon64 3000+ (1.8ghz) -> 4800+ should make a big difference.

What I've got so far of the rig whose specs I listed previously:

This, and the motherboard, which I don't have pics of yet :)

For now I am just going to use the stock heatsink (got the retail version of the processor), and some arctic-5 thermal grease.

Edit: I, too, was going for the 5000+, but according to my friend and some other people I have talked to it is sold out and on backorder for this quarter because it was in high demand. I think I will be satisfied regardless :D

So far I have ordered
X2 4800
Zalman CNS 9500
P C Power & Cooling Silencer 750.
Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Fatal1ty

Will Update as I order more.

Just arrived today to replace S754 A64 2800+/1gb ddr3200/9800pro:

A64 X2 3800+ AM2
Asus M2N-E
eVga 7900gt ko reloaded(N584 w better fan)
2gb XMS DDR2 667
Antec smartpower 500W
Seagate 320g SATA 3.0
Pioneer 16x dvd
Coolermaster Centurion 5 case

And of course UPS pooch-screwed the shipping on my new 20.1" 1600 Samsung LCD, so that won't come til monday. Overall good deals from newegg, except for the shipping snafu mentioned above and the really crappy packing job they did on the boxes.... very little in the way of protection - maybe a handful of peanuts in each box.
