So tell me does it sparkle like a disco ball in the light? ;)
Sure does :p Makes the Senns sparke too, gives them a nice (and IMO much needed) boost in treble.

By the way, what is that CD case with the fat chicks on the cover?
Eh, some porno I picked up at the local video store.

(j/k) its the Holy Bible by the Manic Street Preachers, one of my fav. albums.

Complete system rundown:
Liebert power conditioning UPS
1M Zu Birth PC
MisterX PPA (STeps, diamond buffers, lots of extras)
MisterX EMU 0404 cables (RCA-1/4)
EMU 0404 (Gonna upgrade opamps someday when I have free time)
2.5M Zu Mobius
Sennheiser HD650

I am now done upgrading my headphone rig. This is it. Seriously.

*Well, maybe I should get a DAC1...

Whats the total cost of that setup?

Retail prices:
HD650- $549
PPA- (Dont want to say, PM MisterX for a price quote)
Zu Mobius- $244
Zu Birth- $109 (Definately not worth it, cant hear any difference between it and stock)
EMU 0404- $99
Liebert power conditioning UPS- $700?

Total retail: $2151. Price I paid: $1179. Got the cans and Mobius used, got the Birth and Liebert off Ebay (Zu cables has an Ebay store).

I forgot ..... how much did you pay for that amp?
$450 with EMU cables :p As the McDonalds commercial says, I'm Lovin it!

The HD650 had an orginal retail price of $549.95 according to headphone.com. I got mine for $280 shipped from head-fi member Canman.

I see I see said the blind fool as he pissed on the mans wooden leg. :p

If you can live without the 0404 for a few days just drop in the mail..... I will be more then happy to swap the opamps and bypass the caps (if applicable) in it for you.

I've been considering it, but as of yesterday I am unemployed :( Gotta save all I can till I find something new. Replacing opamps is on my to-do list, just gotta get funds first. Would adding better caps make an audible difference?

Replacing the caps = marginal improvement (not to mention very spendy for black gates)
Replacing the opamps = significant improvement (and it only costs about $12 if you bypass the buffers)

Headphone thread on a computer board? Weird. Here's mine, I suppose some of you should be able to ID it

Wow nice headphones.

That said why is it weird to have a thread, a lot of people use headphones when gaming/surfing/listening to music.

Those are nice headphones, they cost more than my computer, monitor, amp, headphones combined :)
Did that cool stand come with it?

HOLY FUCK.

Wowzers. Those headphones cost $3,299 @ Audiocubes (for the lazy).

At Audiocubes, the stand comes with it. And for that price, it better.

cant compete with those sony's, but here goes my setup (i doubt my ears could tell the difference anyhows :p )

MAAAAAN!!!!!

The qualias!!!!

It's not everyday that I see a pair of headphones that cost equal to my uber computer speaker system... :D !

I just got the baby qualias, the Sony MDR-SA5000 ($800 on audiocubes)... so nice to see a fellow Sony fan! :p

Most people dont realise just how bad the average pair of headphones suck. You can spend hundreds easily and not regret it. Music contains so much more detail than the average crappy headphones can reproduce accurately.

I wish I had 800$ to blow on a set of cans, but my 50$ PX100s will do for now.

schapman, how do you like the A500's? i was planning on getting those, but got the A900's instead.

I didn't think about it like that. I use speakers for the PC.

I really like them. I use em mostly for gaming and general listening. The ms-1s beat them for rock/HH/Electronica for sure but if I'm in the mood for a mix that includes classical, these are always on. I havent heard the a900s yet and have been trying to ignore them so I don't upgrade :)

I guess I mean why use headphones unless you can't, if you see what I mean?

I have Sony MDR-V700 (70mm drivers) hooked up to my Sony STR-DE897 reciever, using a fiber cable to connect to my computer, awsome sound, I haven't tried using all my speakers with it yet. :)

Because, at any given price point, headphones will give better sound.
This, along with consideration for the people that I live with, is my reason.

I dunno about better sound, depends what you're going for. I like my external sound card with optical to reciever and 2 infinity primus 250 towers better than headphones. I have Sony MDR V600's if i feel the need tho.

Current List:
1) Audigy 4
2)Trek Bruiser 2
3)AMD 64 3500+ system

I'll take your word for it. My PC speaker setup sounds better to me than a comparable headphone system.

Picked up the Audigy 4 for $259.99 at J&R in NYC. Decent price! I can't tell much of a difference between the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro that I sold to my brother and the Audigy 4 Pro in overall sound quality. The CMSS and EAX effects are definitely much better along with anything encoded in DTS surround. One of the biggest improvements IMO, is the drivers. Even though they are still bulky and extensive, they are rock stable in compared to the previous Creative products I've owned.

PS: Good luck on getting the items on your wish list :D

Some nice setup's in here.

Sennheiser HD-590's and a Creek OBH-11 for me. I absolutely love the setup, too.

Eww...590s. Even though the guys at Tweeter sold them to me for 100 bucks, they still sucked.
