Post Your College Setups!!!

not to interfear in that discussion but the westy is a TV that has DVI...

Admittedly, this is being picky, but the Westinghouse that I have is a MONITOR because it does not have a built-in tv tuner (neither NTSC nor ATSC). Again, splitting hairs here...;)

I got the LTV-32w6 for 800$, so yea it's pretty decent prices for the size and quality. The only issue i've really had with mine is the backlight bleeds a little when it's full black, but that doesn't matter much.

I got it for $630, go figure :rolleyes:

Great TV / monitor. I think the 1366 res is fine for an additional monitor, but it wouldn't be so hot as a primary.

Alright, my bad then :)

seeing as im a full time student, i dont have the time to save for an 1800 dollar 30inch monitor, so this gets things done in the meantime. And i don't use it at 1366, i go down to 1024 x 768 since i am sitting across the room from this thing, and that resolution seems to have the least trouble with games.

Have no idea where to put my string lights, so I figured why not give myself a "bed glow"

Thanks for looking!

Did you modify that G7 or is it stock? I've only seen the green+gray ones...

It's stock, you can get it from newegg :D

Cool, got to look that up. I work at a computerstore in town and we only have the green ones... Some customers want a black (or darker) mouse, and that would be just perfect to have in the selection!

I'm a high school senior and I'm wondering how you guys carry all these stuff to college. I don't have a car so I don't know how I would bring a pc to my dorm... And my parents keep thinking that I won't make it through college without a laptop.

Definitely U-haul.

Wow... so you guys u-haul back and forth during the breaks too? That must be expensive.

Wow... so you guys u-haul back and forth during the breaks too? That must be expensive.

Actually, my school is on the Quarter system (Every 11 weeks I get a 1 week break) so I'm here pretty much year round. I go home on my breaks too tho. I also get (2) 3 week breaks, one during Christmas, and one during Summer.

No. I leave my stuff up here during winter break (only 2 weeks), and I work up here in Boston during the summer (so I don't go home for more than a week). Let me tell you though, those are some rough two weeks without all my stuff.

Ahem....I'd like to start off with.... I hate you all. Oh the envy... ;_;

Dorm life hasn't treated my gaming and computer work very well. >< (You try living with two other girls, both of which go to sleep around 11pm...neither of which even remotely comprehend either gaming or techiness.)

More often than not, I'll be booted out to the lounge...where people will give me odd looks and whisper about the girl who carried her desktop down the hall and is now gaming with a wolf on her head. (Hurray for 50ft ethernet cords!)

Or even more often, I'll be lurking in the corner of the hallway in front of the stairs. I'll upload those photos whenever my friend pulls them off her digicam.

Anyhow, for now, some shots of my in-room setup taken by webcam. Oh, and by the way....this is all the room I have. That's it. All you see is all I have.

221433.jpg

Main workspace. Yes, I know, I'm a slob. (Also....Yay for Lucky Charms!)

221542.jpg

My compy! It glows red! Fwee!

221648.jpg

A shot of my wolfy and shelf with more games than textbooks.

221708.jpg

My printer on my dresser next to my chair. Again, yes, I know I'm a slob.

222139.jpg

A shot that shows off the underside of my bed. (And the corner of my Disgaea calendar!)

Oh, and you know those cords that keep showing up? Yep, 50ft ethernet cord, and my laptop's power cord....

221951.jpg

Lappy on my bed. (Because roomies gripe about my compy's fans) With more wolfies!

And...well, there are other reasons I have my laptop on my bed, but let's not get into that. <_<

Hey wtf i go to UCLA too! and i live in Hedrick Summit! what building you in??

your room looks like HS to me..

*gaspshock* You're right! A fellow Hardforumer in my very own building! Techies /do/ exist on this campus! I've been given nothing but trouble for it since I got here.

heres my dorm setup. I need to do something about the cables, but i was too excited to get all setup before worrying about the details.

Thats my home-brewed loft. The boards just sit on the floor and rest against the wall and ceiling. God forbid anyone kicks one of the boards out (fortunately, not that easy, really)

OMG!!! i would be scared shitless that the bed would fall on the setup!!

I'll post a little update from my other pictures.
I added an asian folding fan to my wall. My parents found it in their house, and so I decided to clean it up and hang it in my room. I really love the looks of it!

Since it's pretty much peak fall time around here, I decided to capture the season with the view outside my window. (The glass isn't very clean, but I can't do anything about that).

Yup, I'm happy.

i wouldnt really care so much about falling out....id be more concerned for my electronics below!

http://www.directron.com/btc6200.html

its the BTC 6200, great keyboard for the price IMO, it has really nice laptop style keys which I love, but some people seem to hate. also the buttons on the top work great under windows, and can be programmed in Mac os-x with USB Overdrive

Oh, and by the way....this is all the room I have. That's it. All you see is all I have.
I must be the only person who got a bigger room at university than I had at home, by about 2 times (& most people still consider this a small room!) - no wonder I don't go home over holidays! I mean I've picked up a huge laser printer & 2x CRTs since getting here that I literally won't be able to fit in my room at home without throwing out the bed! I'll be taking some new shots when my brand new shiny MacBook arrives (it's coming all the way to Wales from Singapore, it was tracked in Amsterdam yesterday).

EDIT: here we go, a couple quick pics whilst everything's neat (what am I saying, my room is always neat!).

My room at university as of March 07;

Left Desk;
workstation&

left-deskz1.jpg

All specs in my sig, black machine is my workstation with dual 15" Flatrons, grey machine is the ICS which runs headless running a VNC server, laptop is my brand new MacBook :).

Right Desk;
right-desk.jpg

Shuttle is my media machine plugged into the 17" CRT, 14" CRT is for the Dreamcast, printer is a HP LJ 4 M Plus.

Hi-Fi gear;
hi-fi.jpg

Aurex SB-A10 amplifiers (top unit connected to the Sony yellowcone bookshelf speakers in the last pics, bottom unit awaiting another pair of speakers), Sansui tuner, wired into the Shuttle.

I can safely say that I have 'one of the better' setups among the freshers here, but it's still peanuts compared to some of the setups I've seen in this thread!
