Q6600 @ 3.0

2x 8800GTS 640m SLI

Graphics score seems really low, i don't think a 9800gx2 is 3x faster than a 8800 640m sli

p1980 ... 4400 cpu and low gpu marks, the thing is it didnt add the result too my account and later it said my trial key has expired ... so i uninstalled it lol.

Problem is, I use XP on my gaming rig, so why make this Vista exclusive...I understand the DX10 thing, but still...

Can someone post some screenshots? I can't access any gaming sites at work.

We already have 3DMark03, 3DMark05 and 3DMark06 that benchmark XP + DX9, why would you want yet another 3DMark for XP?
And yea, obviously DX10 is the reason why it doesn't work on XP.

You gotta pay to play! :D

You gotta pay to watch, you mean?

3DMark Vantage didn't offer any memorable scenes that I need to see again. Some of the physics effects in scene 1 were kind of OK, and scene 2 looked like an enhanced X3.

Wait- they're charing for the basic version? With that and the move to DX 10 they've basically just killed off 3d Mark.

3DMark Score P7336 3DMarks
CPU Score 13273
Graphics Score 6385

X3360 @ 3.4 Ghz
2 Visiontek 3870's in Crossfire 800/1170

I could only run in Performance mode with my current monitor and the graphics looked horrible. I was expecting much more.

** Update **

New scores after installing the ati hotfix and a little video ocing. Looked much better this time.

3DMark Score P8155 3DMarks
CPU Score 13347
Graphics Score 7219

$6.95 or even $19.95 is no money to cry about when you spend 200+ on GFX.
DX10 is also the future so what they just did is the begining to the end of XP as some people will get Vista just because they want to "play" Vantage and if they made just another useless DX9 test those would not go over to Vista until later.
XP-boys can continue play 3dmark06 while Vantage will be the new standard "game".

11009, CPU at stock due to almost dead MB, GPU @my max air settings.

My E6600 at 3 GHz (effectively an E6850) scores 5364 on the CPU benchmark.
My 8800GTS 320 scores 3815.
Total of 4112 3DMarks.

I don't think Vantage is going to cause people to line up for Vista just so they can get DX10 support. Maybe if it offered a multitude of different scenes and they all looked stunning, and maybe an interactive Nature scene or similar thrown in.. but two half-decent scenes that were poorly directed, didn't feature any spectacular new effects etc.... I found the Nvidia and ATI tech-demos more exciting not to mention games like Crysis that you can actually...you know...play.

The benchmark seems to be more GPU than CPU dependant. My old-ish X2 4800+ keeps up with the Core 2's in temrs of GPU and total score thanks to the 8800GT, despite performing slower in the CPU benchmark. This reflects my experience with actual, modern games.

Yeah, but Vantage doesn't help your system in any way. It's quite a lot to pay compared to a game that you can actually play. The reason 3mark is popular is because it allows you to compare your system to a wide variety of others. If you have to pay to be a part of an exclusive club to do that, then its appeal is lost, because you loose the diverse user base, and the score has less meaning.

Yeah, exactly. And 3dmark by letting you with the trial version only have a SINGLE run of test results (unless you pay) has basically reduced its value as a tweaking tool to near zero. Like if you want to see if that increase in memory frequency affects your scores, etc.

They apparently now have the mindset of record companies "look at all the revenue we could have if we could charge for everytime someone uses/listens to our product." I imagine that most people using 3dmark would just not use it if they had to pay for it. Futuremark apparently thinks that a significant fraction of people of those kinda people would pay for it, I doubt it, and I think this is move is going to be a serious detriment to thier company.

ATI released a hotfix to improve performance with 3dmark Vantage. It would be nice to compare it to my current drivers but I cant with this single run nonsense. I guess ill try registering with another email account and see if that works. What a joke.
