Ok so im just wondering what everyone else has on theirs. windows just told me it needed to update my windows experience index and my 5870 dropped from a 7.4 to a 6.0....

just wondering if you guys have that same experience, and if not why the hell did it drop that much? i though the 5870 was one of the best cards on the market right now

windows 7 experience scores are useless and inaccurate...that's why

should be higher than that... mine is a 6.3 with a 4670.

Did you remember to reset the WEI score?

Just delete everything in C:\windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore and run the test again

Windows experience scores vary wildly on these ATI cards due to the 'power saving' settings that reduce operating clocks in a 2D environment.

Sometimes my two 5970s have gotten 7.8, or as low as 6.0; using the latest drivers I tried two runs, and got 6.0 both times (10.2 drivers.) But if I run Furmark in a window AT THE SAME TIME as I run the Windows Experience assessment, it is giving me a 7.1.

So it can't be a reliable measurement of your GPU performance. Use it for the rest of your components if you like, but don't get hung up on it regarding your GPU score. Instead, get some baseline scores for other 3D benchmarks and test against those when you make system changes, driver upgrades, or overclock.

7.7 with a 5850 as well, bone-stock (except voltage dropped to 1.00v). But yeah, I take WEI with a pinch of salt.

It does indeed happen all the time. had mine show 6.0 for a while, eventually ran it again and it said 7.8. i don't even bother running it anymore.

Mine was 7.4 when I was running 512mb 4850's in Crossfire in my main system, after I upgraded to dual 4870x2's, the score went down to 7.1 lol

Like everyone else has mentioned, it varies a lot and means very little.
I get a 6.0 sometimes and a 7.8 other times with a 5870.
