I am currently upgrading my vid card, I haven't bought Far Cry yet.

Nevermind FPS, just get a scenic shot with max everything. (not pseudo-max everything), I mean literal max everything.

I mean 8xAA and a resolution higher than 1600x1200 if that's possible.

i.e, A screenshot that grinds your system to 1 FPS.

Only .PNGs or .BMPs

The eye candy in far cry is just incredible, I had posted up some jpg's before at 1.6 meg they still dont show it off well enough, the png's do a much nicer job, albeit at 2.9 meg ea he he.

I can't seem to get print screen to work so I couldn't get a bmp (how are you guys doing it?) far cry's own screenshot bind outputs to a jpg. This is a shot at the highest res I can do, 2048x1536, AA doesn't work after 1600x1200 so there is none, but 16xAF still works. Even with slight jpg compression it weighs in at 2.26MB. This was on a 9800Pro 128MB, e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio at 100.

I'm guessing I can get the level of detail style blurring that's going on with the landscape textures to get turned off. What all settings do you guys use?

My first shots were and look lousy , I used f12 and got a better result but I hear yah. It was the fact that i was viewing on my laptop, I checked my shots and they looked bad on my lappy as well (14" screen does not cut it for these shots
 
hehe, I'll try taking screenshot at 3200x1200 if FarCry supports it, and when my second LCD 20" monitor gets here :D Alternatively, I'll try taking screenshot at 2400x1600, again if the game supports it ;)

EDIT: damn, it looks ugly... FarCry just expands normal 1600x1200 display to 3200x1200... Will post it as soon as I figure out how to take screenshots, and where to upload the sucker to (a few mb in size, I bet). I think I should better try 2400x1600 later on

Excuse the noob question, but how in the world would you achieve a 3200x1200 on any monitor?

that has to do with the way the engine renders things that are over water (it's present on all systems)

It's actually 2 LCD monitors, 1600x1200 each, and nvidia allows to span them so that windows sees just one monitor 3200x1200 :D

Like I said I tried it, it works in Far Cry, but looks like just it expands the 1600x1200 to 3200x1200, and doesn't look so cool... I'm thinking about pivoting monitors and combining them to 2400x1600, will see how it turns out

It's 3MB max for one file.

Try putting the images in a zip, then upload that.
 
it's jpeg, already compressed, less than 3mb (2.7mb max)... Anyways, sorry, I guess it's not gonna work out.

EDIT: I might find someone to host the image for me... I'll post the link then (but he won't keep it forever :D )
 
Holy thread resurrection batman! Nice pic though. Are you using any AA/AF?
