• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Post Count Frustration

I've been reading the front page here every day for about 6 months, so I do consider myself to be a part of the community, but I've been very reticent to post in the past.
Initially, it was because I thought I didn't have a non-free e-mail account (and then I remembered the one I had from college) but more recently I've just felt like I have had nothing special to contribute. Today I finally realized that selling my old computer hardware on these forums makes way more sense than selling it on ebay.
I realize that there has to be a way to confirm that someone is really down to be here before they start offloading their crap, and I want to be legit, so I try to put at least a modicum of thought into my posts (ok, yeah, some of them are going to be like "tehe, that's funny!" but I want to get moving, y'know!) But a script post count for participating in the market isn't a real deterrent to ass-hats. People are going to post really stupid crap to get their post counts up, and not actually interface with the community if they don't honestly care and they just want to mess stuff up or rip people off.
So, I guess the request is that some other form of restriction be used, or at least that I not get flamed for making my first 50 posts rather useless.
Other than that, I also just wanted to say that I love this site. Thanks for putty in all the work, I love coming here every day and knowing what silly things are happening in tech today.

It does not take very long to contribute 50 meaningful posts. A reasonably intelligent non-troll can get there in just a few [H]ard hours.

You can always email or pm Kyle and ask him to make you a special case but really the best way is to just jump into the forums. It doesn't take too long to get 50 posts and have them worth something.

You could try, but the waiving of the rule is usually reserved for long term contributers who have posted over the years, albeit seldomly. Being part of the community actually means just that....a registered member and not a guest. :)

StellaTerra, I don't care how long you've been reading the front page. You've been a member here for exactly one day. Don't expect any exceptions to be made for you because you think you're special. The postcount minimum for FS/T and Deals is to help keep the trolls out.

If I see anyone trying to spam their way into Mordor, I'll give them a month's vacation and zero out their post count. :)
