Here's the situation guys, I just build my friend a computer yesterday and it worked fine I got Vista to install and all that jazz. After I was done with the nitty gritty I wanted to try my hand at overclocking his E4400 (I've done it before with the same kinda BIOS and Core 2 Duo chip) and the first try was unsuccessful I got thrown into infinite reboot, that's fine I'll just clear the CMOS and start over right? Well I did that and it boots up back fine and I hear the post beep, but now for the life of me I can't get any video output. Everytime it post beeps I just see that blinking amber light on my monitor. I tried gutting it down to one RAM stick no PCI cards etc. but still the same thing. Do any of you have any ideas?

its most likely the driver for the video
can you start the windows in VGA mode?
i was able to do that and then reinstall the video driver and everything was good to go.

hope that solves it...otherwise a format would help too.

Hmm, well do you think swapping out my graphics card in the working computer would help? I downloaded the latest drivers for his ATI card while the computer was working and do you mean just use a VGA cable to start it in VGA mode?

EDIT: OK I got in using my video card from my working computer so I think you're mostly like right for the video driver, I'll try re-installing it and post back here.

OK I have a new situation, I can't see the post screen now, but I can get into Vista fine. The amber light on my monitor will just keep blinking like it has no input until it gets to the first Vista load screen. I'm going to try to flash to the newest BIOS, but do you guys have any idea why I can't see the post screen?

Had a very similar problem with a motherboard of mine. Every time I set the bios option to intialize PCI-E first, my graphics card would not display anything till Vista reached the login screen. Tried updating bios but it wouldn't fix the bug so I'm assuming it means the board is damaged.

I'm no so sure that it's the board tho, b/c when I swap in my GeForce 7300GS then it works just fine I can see the post screen and everything, but when I swap back in the x1650gt I can't see the post screen.
