K, here's what happened. [Note: This is actually my cousin's computer and I just want to make sure I'm on the right track.]

"your PC tells you your hard drive is dying. finally, the hard drive dies, and you're unable to boot. you turn it on, and smell burning hardware. you realize that it's probably not a good idea to keep it turned on, so you shut it off. you buy 2 new hard drives, one of which is UATA and the other is SATA. after unplugged everything that isn't necessary for a boot (cd-rom, etc), the PC still does not output a single thing to the monitor. all you get is a blinking green light on it [the monitor]."

Somebody suggested it might be the PSU, but I tried 2 different ones and I got nothing. I really think it's the motherboard, but is it possible that it's the video card? I don't know why the video card would just die randomly like that....

What say you?
 
you dont know why the video card would just fail like that? i dont know why i motherboard would fail like that.

What do the lights tell you on the mobo?
 
Disable the video card, enable onboard video and see if you can get a picture then.
