Possibly stupid question, left and right

So I have a pair of AV40's which are fantastic but I just moved and the way I have my desk arranged I can't connect the AV40's to my computer properly unless I switch the left and right sides. Does this really matter/make a difference?
 
Yes...? Then you hear things backwards. But you should have the option to switch the left and right in your sound software so that it negates the switch.

Hrm I don't think I can with my current soundcard until my Forte arrives. I guess I'll just get an extension cable :p
