Possibly Failing Ext HD

My ext HD would sometimes cause my computer to have hickups of freezing (as in freeze for a few seconds, then unfreeze, and freeze again... etc.). If I unplug it then the freezing stops. I turned it off for a few days and restarted it up today. These are the tests I got from HD Tune.

Should I get a new HD to replace this and toss it? Also would it be better to get a dock + internal or just another external and use both the cases for future drives?

Is this drive a USB or ESTA external? The reason I ask is the Ultra DMA CRC count is higher than I have ever seen (and I manage around 200 hard disks daily for years). Outside of that there are 6 bad sectors and 1 sector that the drive lost data on.

any one of those things mean the drive is toast. not possibly failing, just failing!

as soon as a hard drive starts acting strange (causing freezing included!) you should back it up. but if you check the smart values, what you see is what you expect to see: the drive is toast and it is using all its abilities to keep itself running. but time is running out for you to recover your data. normally you should have rescued your stuff right away. your risk of data loss is going up.

Its eSATA on a 3 year old Fantom external.

Thanks for the info. Getting another disc asap. Any suggestions on just buying an external or internal+dock? I dont expect to have really more than 2 drives and I could just used this broken drive's ext case with another internal drive.
