My computer recently starting crashing heavily a few months ago after I replaced a defunct AthlonXP 1800+ with a 2500+. It crashes alot and I haven't seem to figure out anything that makes it crash more frequently (happens in desktop and games). The computer itself doesn't lock up, it just shuts down as if there was a power outtage, which leads me to beleive that the PSU is the culprit. Its an antec 480w TruePower that Ive had for about a year and a half (I think, I just know that Ive had it for a while). So is there anyway to check to see if the PSU is the culprit, dont feel like spending money on a new one if this ones fine. Specs are as follows:
AMD AthlonXP 2500+ Barton
MSI K7N2 (nforce2, latest bios/drivers)
2x Corsair XMS 512mb @ 2-3-3-7 (Ive tried more relaxed timings and the problem still occurs)
Antec 480w truepower
Lian-li PC-65
Nvidia GeForce4 MX (also happened on Radeon9600Pro AIW but the pins are broken on the dongle thing now)
WDSE 80gb, WD60gb
