Some months ago I overclocked my E6320 with the great help from everyone here on this forum. Something caught my eye while I was in my control panel today. It appeared that I was running at the stock clock speed. I check with CUP-Z, and it too said I was running at stock clock speed.

I did not reset the clock speed back to stock. I was OCed at 3.2 GHz and now I am at 1.86GHz. I have no idea how long it has been this way. What can cause it to revert back on its own? Is this normal?
 
Did you check all the settings? Sometimes wierd stuff happens and the CMOS (the memory of your BIOS settings) gets reset, if that's the case you just have to put them back in and start over. My IP35 dumps out the CMOS settings about once a month for no apparent reason. You ussually get a warning message when this happens like "CMOS settings invalid hit F1 for setup or F2 to continue" but I suppose it could happen without a warning? Or if you used just programs to overclock its possible your program settings are wrong or the programs aren't running at startup anymore to apply the settings?
 
cmos battery could of died.. overclock became unstable and watchdog auto defaulted the bios, power outage aka power going on and back off right as the bios was loading would cause it to reset the bios as well due to it thinking it failed to boot due to bios settings.. tons of different things.. also flashing your bios with an updated version will reset it..
 
Do you have speedstep or something enabled that drops the speed to save power when it isn't being used much? I know my laptop will slow way down at idle to save the battery, then when its loaded up it will ramp back up to full speed:)

Gigabyte motherboards have been known to sometimes spontaneously forget their overclock settings. Try setting everything up again and see if it takes.
 
OK. Thanks. I guess I should written the settings down somewhere when I did it the first time. OOPS. Gonna have to start from scratch. I'll save them somewhere this time.
 
Well, I got everything back the way is was. Luckily for me, some of the settings were still present in my BIOS. It turns out that the CPU Host Clock Control setting got changed to disabled. My FSB setting was still there (just disabled), vcore was still there, and memory over voltage was intact. The only other thing that had change is my memory frequency got changed back to auto. Set that back on X2 and I was good to go. Like I said before, I am writing it down this time. Thanks!
