you don't have to be such a negative nancy.

Everyone in this forum is just as pissed as I am when they don't get their Pieces of shit bag.

Sweet! I think I got it... it said the sale went through and I got a receipt. My first BOC!!! and I got 3!!!

/sorry for all those who got screwed by server overload.

They got some POS pedometer now with panic alarm? Do you hit the panic button when you think you are walking too fast?

When I click on "Your account" and look at "what you've bought", it says Nothing...yet.
Does this mean I didn't get it?

My status page just changed to

"you're in line, if a woot becomes available. we're basically sold out, but if someone ahead of you gets denied, we'll sell it to whoever's in line.

What's going on here?
It looks like we're out of stock. People ahead of you in line are getting their orders processed. If some of them get denied, it will free up stock for the next in line.

If a product becomes available, we'll sell it to you. We'll refresh this page to keep you updated, but you can also just check your account page later. If the sale's not listed there, it means we ran out of stuff."

I hope someone gets denied soooo bad !!!

Maybe they're gonna have another BoC sale?

*hopes*

Netgear .11g USB wireless adapter. 12 bucks

Well shit its back to the pedophile meter

Netgear adapter back up.

EDIT: LMAO nevermind Woot hs no fucking clue what it wants to do and went backwards again.

EDIT 2: Ok their server is offically fucked but appears that that adapter might actully stay this time.

don't think people are buying - people are still pouting over the missed boc. as am i. screw safety.

Progress bar is broke for all. There might be more, otherwise the woot-off sirens woulda disappeared.

Ok, talk about leftovers...

Those are nice though, it's a great PDA AND GPS in one, but still, they culdn't sell out the first time.

I bought one last time, pass this time

Actually, yes to brag. I got three 'bride of chucky'.

I will hoard them and their undetermined inards for a long, long time.

I'm so lonely.

not a bad haul. definitely better than the previous one.

I am so fucking mad right now, I click I want one as soon as it came up, ordered 3, and it sat at your order is processing forever. I just got back, and it says your order was not processed for reasons: and then its just a blank bullet. So I guess there's no reason that I didn't get one. Damnit.

^^ their site was prolly slammed beyond comprehension right then. lol. but that does suck. :(

BTW- here's a review of the PPC GPS up there now.. I was VERY tempted until I read the review..

http://www.brighthand.com/?newsID=2594

gah! ..pass..

you knwo what? they didn't actually review it. go read the CNET review, the one you liked is full of assumptions that cnet showed weren't true.

you never know... sometimes it's only a day, sometimes 2, sometimes 3... ain't that great? :D

They have an amazing business model. Just think about it: They get a lot of people to buy into the hype of woot-off and buy stuff they don't need so that they can see what's coming up next. Look at the sales numbers for every item. I wish my small office here could sell that many items per day.

Yeah I agree that woot has an amazing business model. I mean the idea of buying lots of cheap merchandise and selling it isn't new, but they take advantage of hype 100x more than any other business.

well, i don't know if they are actually making a profit or not, but the business model is brilliant... they can buy huge quantities of a random item (so they get it cheap), they keep expenses low since the website, shipping, etc is so simple with just one product, and the coolest thing is that they get ppl to come back to the site almost EVERY DAY ("i wonder what woot has today?").

and then they get these super hyped up woot-offs which drag in a massive amount of traffic... and they've probably broken $1 million in sales from this one alone, which is mighty impressive for a couple days...

I checked some databases here at work (investment firm) and it looks like Woot takes in about $40 million in revenue as of last year.

I'm not sure how profitable they are though.

I'd guess they net about 1/4 to 1/3 of that amount at best but with those numbers even 1/4 is very large.

:p 25-30% profit margins are largely unheard of in most industries, especially retail.

Woot is looking at around 7-10% profit margins, which is somewhat high for retail, but Woot deals with a lot of refurbished & bulk items.
