OK. I have been a PC tech for the last 15 years. About 5 years ago I quit my PC repair job and started doing 3D modeling for TV shows on the Discovery channel and History channel. I still build and fix my own boxes, and service the PC's of family and friends, but my own box is giving me fits.
Here is my setup. AMD system with a RAID 0 (C
set of two 100GB drives. I also have a 3rd 200GB (D
drive for backup. ONE of my drives is resetting its drive head and spinning down and re-starting. The problem is, I dont know what one!!!
This has been going on for some time, but its been rare. Its getting a lot more frequent and happening once every 5-10 mins. I need to find what drive it is!!! I hope that its not one of my RAID set, but I need to find it and replace it ASAP before it goes down for the last time.
Is there a diagnostics tool or program that I can run that will find what drive keeps shutting down? When it happens, there should be a stoppage of data flow, so all it needs to do is keep an eye on the data and see what drive is pausing. Can anyone suggest anything to help me? Thanks.
