I think my hard drives are shot. It's either that or something it wrong with windows. Yesterday, the computer decided it didn't want to boot anymore. When it did boot it was very, very slow. After restarting, it would get through the post stuff but after showing "verifing DMI pool data" it would say "error loading operating system." I had to reboot couple of times to get it to read the cd-rom for windows xp.
I tried running chkdsk and it stated there were one or more errors. It also sat at 31% complete for about 10 minutes. I tried starting again and got into windows but once again, it was very slow. Today I was finally able to get windows to run normal. I ran norton windoctor and it fixed a few problems. I tried running disk defrag and it got to 39% before it locked up. I have not been able to get to windows since. I tried running chkdsk again but it didn't run through the diagnostics. It just said there were one or more errors on the drive. I tried running fixboot but it said the drive was not there or unrecognizable.
So, are my hard drives shot? This was the first time I experienced problems like this. They are 2 80's set up in a raid 0.
