Possible Dell 2001fp problem or vid card?

I have a Radeon 9500 softmodded to 9700. On my old cheap CTX it made the screen wavey sometimes. A couple days after getting my 2001fp there's been blotches of green pixels appearing. I have to turn off the monitor and turn it on to get it to go away. Is this a monitor or vid card problem? I'm also thinking about returning it and buying a nice 19" CRT and using the extra $600 towards a better car.

If all you're doing is turning the monitor on and off to get it to go away, it sounds like it's the monitor and NOT the video card. Why don't you call Dell tech support and ask them if they've heard of this problem. Let us know the outcome.

yeah i got those also on my CRT but they were just artifacts from overclocking  . just go back to stock and you should be fine.

Hi

I too am having the same problems (since last night) with FP2001 but the green specs generally only appear during start up/bios screens and whilst xp home is loading it then stops when it is asking for my password and desktop work is fine, although a couple of times on the desktop green red blue specs have been appearing.

It does worry me as i have only had the monitor 8 days now but the problem only seems to happen with DVI, Dsub is fine accept i do get the auto adjusting feature a few times, but i suspect this is normal for D sub users? settings menus etc seem to be unaffected, mine are all at default.

Like the obove poster the problem goes away momentarily when i switch off the monitor and then back on. but upon a restart problems occur.

My manufacture date is dec 2003, my sytem spec is

Asus P4PE
Pentium 4 2400
Albatron Geforce 4 ti4200 turbo 128mb

Nothing is overclocked, cpu temp is around 55C

Seems strange that all this has been happening since i installed the UT 2004 demo but maybe i just didn't notice previously, have since formatted and reinstalled xp but still have problems.

what would you guys advise i do here, should a try and get a replacement (might be hard considering it was an import to UK from US)

Thanks for any help you can give:)

Edit, after reading this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=17181815

It appears it could possibly be due to a memory problem on the card although i have only had mine just over a year:confused:
