Possible dead video card??

As of like 2 nights ago, my computer was acting kind of weird. It was randomly shutting down, then when I tried to power it back up, the fans would start, then it would shut down again. It would do this 3 or 4 times, then finally start. It would work fine for a while, shut down again. Rinse and repeat.

As of today, it will turn on, but I get no video signal at all (8600GT, many years old). My monitor has that "looking for input" message on it, so clearly no video is being sent out.

Now, I am thinking that the problem is the video card is dead, but I have no way to test this (no spare card, no other computer to test card in)

I also can't tell if my computer is completing POST, as I don't have an internal speaker (that's where the post beep would come out, right?)

Anyway, what I wanted to ask was, how likely do you think it is that my GPU is dead and that is what's causing this problem??

Thanks!
