Possibly upgrading my setup depending on what everyone thinks and what type of deals I can get on hardware. I'd really like to upgrade my monitor & get an SSD but I think it would stress my current rig too much which prompted me to upgrade everything!
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming 70% - Primarily steam/blizz games, D3, WoW, Sc2, possibly Tera, bioshock/deadspace etc
Browsing 20%
Plex Media server 10%
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Value is most important, looking about a 1k build from what I can tell, but no real budget I guess, I just don't want to spend a ton because there isn't technically anything wrong with my computer right now so I'm trying to justify upgrading, debating on waiting until haswell but if I'm going Ivy I'd like to just do it now instead of waiting a few months and paying the same price 3months later
I may try to sell some of the old setup to offset costs.
I dislike MIR's but I can do them, if it's a good deal w/o getting the MIR back then I'm for it... Waiting on 2 MIR's right now actually.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Columbus, Ohio - Microcenter will be involved in this build
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Monitor
CPU
Mobo
Ram
GPU
SSD
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Corsair 550D(just bought, love it!)
Seasonic X-650
Samsung F3 1TB HDD
Sata optical
Asus DG soundcard (PCI)
6) Will you be overclocking?
I'd certainly like to if it's not too difficult, but I never have before.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
AGNeovo F-419 4:3 19" monitor, but looking at upgrading this- so probably 1920x1080
I'd like to purchase a Dell u2412m, Dell u2312hm or one of the ASUS TN monitors such as this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...236079&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-24-236-079-_-Product
I can't really decide if it'll be worth it to get an IPS panel for my uses especially because the dells are 2x or 3x the cost, but as you can see I keep my hardware for awhile I've had this monitor since 2005 and it's been great, I think it was $230 at the time.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
As early as tonight as late as the end of the month..
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Nothing specific, I'm open to recommendations, possibly UEFI; it's beneficial for OCing correct? Don't really see benefits of more than 1 GPU and I'd prefer a cool and quiet system.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes - Windows 7 64bit
