Ok, how do I check for how long it took me?

Also, why doesn't that login/password work for me @ http://www.aperturescience.com/

I type cjohnson hit enter, the tier3 and enter. Both times it just takes me to the same blank >blinker thingy..wtf?


I've not cheated a single time through this game and am now completely stuck @ the last bonus level. I made it across the first gap, but now I don't know what the hell to do to get up top. There's nowhere to put a portal.


BTW, this game is awesome!! I loved the whole thing, and I was on the edge of my seat from start till finish. Not even a bathroom break! HA!

I'm uploading some videos right now to gametrailers that show a walkthrough of levels 18 and 19. I just redid them this morning with fraps.. stupid demos suck and ran super slow for some reason (choppy)... maybe because I left F@H running :confused:

Anyone know why the demo playback would be choppy but frapsing while playing was much smoother?

Anyway will post links up when they are finished. Gonna try some of the bonus maps now :p

haha, that was a really great game, i loved it, good to have a humorous game for a change

Anyone know how to get past lvl 18 bonus ? regular walkthrough doesn't help I'm sure...

Why is everyone having trouble is test 18?

I am seriously confused.

The hardest puzzle I had to beat was like 15 or so, (the one where you encountered two dematerialaztion walls, and you had to socket the energy ball from one chamber into the one next to it.). It took me a good 20-30mins of tinkering to solve it.

18 was apperent as soon as I walked out from behind the rising wall. The timing was easy too.


Portal is mad sick. It really makes me hope HL2 Ep.2 is good.

I know what you mean regarding 15. Took me like 4 or 5 tries just to get the timing down once I figured it out.

Also, for all, go back through and listen to the dev commentary, VERY interesting.

Stuck on the same thing - have gotten over there multiple times - I thought I had to think fast during my forward progress and shoot a portal, but it happens so quick, I don't get to see anything.
 
15 probably took me the longest as well. I had the general concept down almost immediately, but it didn't work at first, so I overthought it and tried all kinds of things. I think the later ones like 18 are more difficult because you have to take so many more things into account, even if they did take less time sometimes than the other trials. Just different reasons I guess. Like 15 was all about execution, timing when and where to reshoot a portal, but it didn't require you to plan or think things out too much.

Just for the record, I am not sure if 15 is the correct test. Please refer to my description to understand where I was.

That took more thinking then doing. I couldn't figure my way outside of the box and it took me forever to get it.


For me, 18 didn't take any thinking at all. By the time I got there, I saw all the wall/gun/cube placements and it fell into place almost faster then I could get the portals out.


That, I honestly believe, is the beauty of the game.

18 in game was good to go. That wasn't bad. Try 18 on the Bonus levels..That's where were stuck!!

How the hell did you get to the turrets?

I can't get past the second water part...right at the beginning...haha
 
You basically have to shoot another portal on the next section, then while still moving shoot a portal above the water again and launch through that, launch another portal over to the next one.

You have to setup portals on the ground instead of the ceiling now, and have to do it in one big motion instead of having time to sit on platforms and think about it :)
 
I have the level 18 bonus Walkthrough coming through in 5 minutes. I have to append all the files as I don't have a registered copy of fraps.

Alright, I am going to make the size smaller now so I can upload it to YouTube.

Anybody know what is the best format for the video so the filesize can fit on YouTube?
 
Ok, I've spent about 2 hours trying to get a gold medal on portals for Bonus #13. Anyone want to help me? Talk about frustrating...

Yep... it was a must replying the game with the sounds o_O, never realized how much better the game really was with the computer commentary.

It was broken and never loaded the computer voice... I didn't even notice it was missing until other people were saying how funny it was :p. I just followed the diagrams and figured it out on my own lol, first time I heard it was in the credits.

I loved the dialog.
 
The Orange Box was ridiculously broken when it comes to voices loading properly. I've seen at least a few people having problems with Portal's commentary playing properly, and I personally got screwed and have to re-download Episode Two because none of the dialog for that game loaded correctly.

Valve pulls off another awesome launch.
 
Wewt. Got the cameras achievement.

Have yet to start on any bonus maps. I've beat the game normally, played it again with commentary enabled, and then beat 3/4 of it again to get the cameras achievement.

Bonus maps tonight, hopefully.

I really stewed over bonus map 18 but I figured it all out... The turrets can be taken out 1 by 1, and the high jumps I did the same way the first time for the fun of it :p

Now I got 46 seconds on map 14 to beat the 50 second cap, but now the goal is 20 seconds?!? Also the portal limit is 6 portals, but after I beat that, the goal is 4 portals... Are these goals possible? lol
