Sort of a mix of games, hardware and networking, I guess (hope it can go here): I was fortunate enough to receive an initial beta key for World of Warcraft. However, the only way to download it is through a bittorrent provided by Blizzard. Since I am currently at college, the default ports for this are severely restricted, and as a result my download peaks at about 4 kb/sec. Is there any way I can forward these ports or do something to make the download go at a tolerable speed (it's not feasible for me to leave it going for 120 hours to complete; I don't have the deskspace to leave my computer on at all times).

it's *possible* that you could talk to an admin, and see if they'll download it for you(with written documentation from blizzard stating that it's legal), and then transfer it from wherever they download it to to your machine. Other than that I don't know what to suggest.

They control the network and we do not, so you will have to talk to an admin at your school. There is nothing we can do for you. I know the feeling, though, all the file share ports here at Truman are throttled. It is good to see another legitimate, high-profile use of bittorrent, though.

their are some bittorrent clients that allow you to change the default download ports. if you know what ports are open you can just change them.

As mentioned, you should talk to your network admin. That's between you and them.

We really can't help you circumvent your school's network restrictions.
