Lookin for a quick answer.
Anyone know of a site or anywhere that lists the name of the companies who own the MAIN internet Backbones?
In College I learned that there (at that time) were about 7 servers? 11 maybe? in the states, and 3 or so in Canada.

Who owns these? What company? Many companies? Universities? Does anyone know?
 
This reminds me of the thread on Genmay about the kid that thought he found the hub of the internet.

Sorry bud...there are no main internet servers. The internet isn't a tangible item, but a sum of parts.

Perhaps you are inquiring about internet backbones or something?
 
Sorry for poor wording... Yes backbones. Like Verio owns a bunch I believe, Thanks for the correction.

Mainly looking for Tier 1 Backbones but a full list would be awesome!
