I have a 7900GT and it worked amazingly fine with XP. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate 32-bit a few days ago and all I get are green diagonal lines whenever I boot-up a game and/or Vista. I tried updating the drivers, tried using the Vista drivers, and no matter what, it's always green lines. So far, all I can do with my machine is surf the web and listen to music with a semi-stable driver (158.43).

I checked the nVidia forums and found out that this is pretty common, and has been common for months already. Fantastic. Here's the forum in case anyone cares to check: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showforum=33

Is anyone else having this problem? What did you do about it?
 
theres some new drivers out , 163.44 have your tried those yet?

I just finished installing Vista 32bit and I am having the exact same problem!:mad: I have a 7900gt as well (XFX branded) I am unable to select 1600x1200 resolution, as when I do I get the green lines you mentioned. Dualview also does not work.:mad: I will probably spend the evening trying to get this to work.

The first batch did. That was what prompted Nvidia to stop allowing factory overclocked cards for a short time. My card was actually RMAd a while back.

I haven't been having problems with xp, just since I switched to Vista.

On that note, I removed all drivers from my system, installed all vista updates, reinstalled the drivers and I can now use all resolutions and dualview. No games yet (waiting on steam--apparently I didn't backup all of the necessary game files.:confused: BTW this was without using the Nvidia control panel, which is a POS.
 
I have this card and Vista. The solution is to get nTune from nVidia, then change the clock settings on your card for core and memory. You can overclock, or underclock. Shouldn't matter.

Just make sure to save your profile and have it load on startup. This fixed all my issues with games. Before this "fix", only a couple drivers would ever let me get into games, and if ever I tried changing the resolution in game, it would cause crazy screen corruption and I generally had to reboot.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware, it's a timing issue that nvidia is too lazy to fix.

I'm having the same problem as well, its not even when I game, I could be listening to music and be on AIM and it'll start glitching. So the fix is to just underclock/overclock? I'll try that ASAP..
 
I had a 7600 GT, not your card I know but in the 7 series. I upgraded to Vista 32 bit Home Premium and had problems with games and freeze ups.

I gave up and baught the 8600 GT and all issues went away.

Not the answer your looking for I know, but I gave up and wanted to still play my games.

It might be the entire 7 Series and Vista dont mix well?
