Poor speeds?

I have a Seagate 7200.11 that gets a 5.9 in Windowz. But, it has 32 meg of cache, and gets a HDTune score of 82mb/sec avg with a burst score of almost 180 mb/sec.

The 300 mb/sec listed in the description is only the SATA II transfer rate. It has nothing to do with what the components inside the drive are capable of.

Oh yea, my seek time is around 12 ms. The spec for my drive from Seagate is like 9 ms. I think the manufacturers do not take controller lag into their equations.

BTW, my Seagate drive came from the factory with a jumper installed that limited it to SATA I speed. When I removed the jumper, the Burst speed went from 103 mb/sec to 180 mb/sec.
