Poor raptor performance.. help!

Just did a new build... my OS drive is a 36G raptor thats getting 42mb/s and 19ms seeks in Sisoft sandra... my 150G in my personal rig is 74mb/s 6ms seeks. His other drive is a Maxtor thatt gets 50mb/s and 8ms seeks. What would make this raptor performance so crappy? The OS is even slow to load up. All drivers are loaded. Could it be a bad cable? Thx for any help. This is built using a Gigabyte P35-DS3R mobo and E4400 CPU @ 3.0ghz with 2gigs of memory.

I just realized we have the older 8mb 36G raptor and my buddy has the 16mb newer model raptor. From what ive read the newer model 36G out performs the older model. Is this the difference im seeing?

Yes, that's all. The 360GD is kind of a dog compared to the ADFD version.
 
im sick of my 74g raptor 16m cache, i have noticed 0 improvement since i got it months ago, its useless, im probably going to get rid of it
 
the GD version doesn't perform as well as the ADFD version. so its normal
