poor molex connector? or psu?

My hd is turning off and on during windows session a lot. The power going to it is connected to a splitter, which is permanently secured to my 9800 pro video card. Is it possible that this connecter has a loose connection somewhere and that is causing my hd to turn off and on? Its important to note that nothing else seems to be turning off. The fans work fine. And everything else seems to be on although sometimes, my comp will boot up and it will say that my 9800 pro is not receiving enough power, but that could be because of a poor connection in the splitter which is permanently secured to the card. Any ideas?
