For some reason when I run Fraps (recording) my fps drop way down, for example in cs:source I will be running at 60fps (locked at that fps b/c of vertical sync) whenever I enable fraps to record my fps drops to 15 and just sticks at 15fps no matter whats going on. I tried lowering my video quality (resolution etc) and still can't get it to run at a decent FPS.
My System:
proc: AMD 4400+ X2
video: Nvidia 8800gtx (97.02 drivers)
memory: Corsair 3200 XMS (2gigs)
hard drive: 2x 36gig raptors in Raid 0
Fraps (latest version)
In my opinion my system should be capable of recording with fraps at a decent fps, any ideas or things for me to try to solve this problem?
update: I after playing around with alot of the in-game setting and fraps settings, I seem to get way better performance with the half size setting, obviously lessening the work load, I am going to continue messing with the settings and see if I can squeeze alittle better performance out of my fraps, from what I am see'ing atm, AF has alittle affect on my performance but AA really slows fraps down.
Thanks for any help.
