Poor framerate with 9800 pro

Well I've been playing CS:S a lot lately and my framerate isnt so hot. I have a p4 2.4 ghz, 1 gig of pc 2700, and an ati made radeon 9800 pro. My friends have like a p4 2.8ghz, 512 of pc 3200 and a radeon 9800 pro and get way better frames than I do. Whats the problem here? Anyone know?
 
is he overclocking? he does have better system ram, and his card might have better ram. when was the last time you reformatted?
 
Could be a lot of things from drivers, Fastwrites on/off, hd fragmentation, etc... What have you tried to improve your system. Did you have an NVidia card before your 9800?
 
No, neither of us are overclocking, the last time i formated my harddrive was about 2-3 months ago.
 
his system has hyperthreading. you have more ram, but his ram is faster. what drivers are you both using? try changing to the omega drivers.

Say's who? :confused: All he said was, he has a 2.4 p4. There was a 2.4C p4 made with a 800 mhz fsb and hyperthreading.

his system has a 2.4 with pc2700, so im assuming its a 2.4b. his friends has a 2.8 with pc3200, so im assuming its a 2.8c or e.
 
well i tried the omega drivers and got a few more frames, i have a 6800gt that should be here soon, so hopefully that fixes my problem
