i have just got an Aopen FX 5900xt and im benchmarking it and i only get 190 FPS in quake3. thats in 1024x768, 32bit, high quality etc

my pc spec is:
XP barton 3000+
768mb 333Mhz ddr
KuDoz 7X/600 motheboard
Aopen FX 5900xt

im using the newest drivers for everything and even tried old drivers. ive tried in windows ME and windows XP with no change.

this spec gets 254fps

AMD XP 2600+ Throughbred/2800+ Barton
Leadtek K7NcR18D Nforce 2
256mb 3200 Crucial DDR

ive tried other benchmarks with the same kind of results!

what is going wrong??! help me please!! before i myself!

Well, the nForce2 board will be a good 10% faster than yours...

But for that difference?

What is your heat situation like? If GeForceFX boards get too hot, they down-clock themselves to '2d mode'. You'll recall your board has a 2d and a 3d clock speed. If they get hotter, they downclock even further to a 'safe mode', which is REALLY slow.

Try taking the side off your case and putting a big room fan (or something) blowing on the card and see what happens.

Also, try using 3dMark03. After this benchmark is done, click on the PC properties page. Under the display adapter section, it tells you the clock speeds it detected the card using while it was running. This would probably be the easiest way to tell if your card is down-clocking itself.

Next would be to try a difference ForceWare driver. The 56.56 drivers (leaked) truly kick ass in marvelous ways. Uninstall ALL your current nVidia stuff (and use DriverCleaner2 after running the uninstalls to get everything), reboot, and install these new Dets.

i recently flashed my bios on my PNY 5900 to 5950 and i turn AA and AF off and on 3dmark i only get a 5400.. seems pretty low i think my ( non duel chanling pc2700 ram ) is slowing it down any ideas? i dont think my mobo supports duel chanling since it is not a nforce. i got a barton 2600+ oced to 2.14 ghz in there also.

try using the 3000+ in the (good board) Nforce2 board, and putting the lower chips in the crappy boards, then putting the good card in the nforce2 board with the nice 3200 ram and using that as your main rig, because that motehrboard and 2700 ram is crap it seems.

yeah i'd say so but should i wait for DDR2 to get on the market? ( really get out )

Right now DDR2 is still in the beta phase...

I'd say it has at least a half a year till it's out... If not longer... someone back me up on this. Cause the Hardocp article about DDR2 being slower than DDR and it needing more development phases before the true performance is there... read it it's in there somewhere.
