Pondering water cooling...

I really want to try out a water-cooled setup, but there is one thing on my mind that is holding me back: mobility. Can you still move your case around as much and bring it to LAN parties if you are rocking a water setup inside of it? WHat do all of you think? SHould this just be a stationary setup if it's going to go water-cooled?

If you dont mind all the added weight its no big deal. When i moved a few months ago all i did was unplug everything and set in the back seat of my car. Nothing leaked or broke.

its fine as long when u fit the system you make sure all the fittings are on nice and tight....some people glue tubes in place, others just use clamps...some do both...as long as you are careful and take time over the initial installation

iirc a closed loop is a better setup for lanning also. im sure someone will be able to elaborate on this.

I have my PCs running on a centralozed watercooling, so there's no added weight in the case itself. For LAN use I've built a box about the siz of one of these tiny shuttle cases, with an old for rad, two 120mm fans, a reservoir and an eheim pupm. I stick that to the quick.connect fittings on the pack of the lanbox, let it run for a minute to get the air into the clearing chamber (tiny res right on the highest point), then In switch on the pc. Weight 12 pounds extra, works like a charm.

As long as you build a closed loop system and have very solid/tight connections in your hoses. Theres nothing to worry about.

I travel around with watercooled cases alot. Sometimes several hundred miles with it bouncing around in the back of my car. Never had any problems or leaks.

Thanks for all the feedback, folks. I probably am going to go with a closed loop. Any reccomendations on a water block? What's the best on the market right now? Same goes for the pump, what are the top 3 in your opinion? I have a 120mm blowhole at the top of my case, so my rad will probably get screwed onto that.

Best block on the market rigfht now is Cather's Cascade, although it's expensive and pretty rare.
After that is the DD RBX and the D-Tec WhiteWater. Both are very similar in design and the WW is one of Cathers designs. In case you don't know, Cather is basically the godfather of watercooling.
Next in line at 1-2*C warmer are the Swiftech MC5000 and the DD Maze3/4. Most would say the Maze3 is better than the 4.

Be sure to safeguard everything, I just lost $800 worth of equipment to watercooling. My system worked perfectly for six months and radomly leaked one day:(

I have a eheim 1250, 5.25 bay res., DD Maze4 CPU, Swiftec MCW50GPU, and a d-tek procore all in a modded Lian-Li.

I am soon to upgrade to TEC with the same setup and with an added dual 120mm radiator mounted to the top.
