aight, so i was out in my impala...

no but seroiusly, i was looking at the competition, specifically OC.com's forums, and i came across a rather cool idea they have. Sub-teams.

They all fold for OC.com, but they have sub-teams, like (and i'm BSing the names here so dont' quote me on it) the Froo-froo Faeires, and the Ballsy Ballerinas...

well you get the idea.

what i was thinking was, why not try to start the same thing here, have sub-teams? That way you can have races between sub-teams, MVN award PER sub-team..standings in the sub-teams, ranks in teh sub-teams.

and it encourages people to form a tighter knit community and work together. To be honest, it's hard to work with the 1.5k+ people who actively fold for the [H]orde, now if i had a sub-team (a platoon ? ;)) of about 20 to work with, that'd be tight.

I was thinking sub-teams would be grouped by common interests, and here's where i really see the problem--what will make people want to join a sub-team? I now frequent the Anime/Manga forum (in the [H]obbies section, in case you don't know) and none of them (i don't think) fold (except for me, of course). Were I to start an Anime/Manga sub-team, i know that'd help get them recruited, and most importantly, help them stay active

does anyone else know of any other kinds of Hobbies/Affiliations people can come up with that will help people come to one side?

this is kind of cheezey, but we could do nVidia / ATi / AMD / Intel sub teams :)rolleyes: , i'd prefer not to=\)

When you get older you can watch the real stuff... but i suppose for now anime is ok ;) lol

i know it's joking, but , to be fair, Anime really is an art form in and of itself. I do watch real movies too, but just because i don't spend my time watching "Reach thru invaders FIVE (with moosen)!!" doesn't mean jack taco :p

naw, you'd keep your current name, but let's say a Star Wars sub team formed.

We could have (if King_N or some other kind soul could do this) rankings, i.e. Since you are a pretty big producer, your Star Wars team might outproduce my Anime team--your sub-team would be ranked higher than mine.

it's a good way to organize competition w/i a large team like our's--rather than just 1v1's. For most of us, the goal of single-handedly bridging the ppD gap b/w the [H]orde and the Aussies is something unthinkable.

but me bridging the gap between my team's production and your team's? Much more thinkable.

K, its time to elaborate... if we do this in a run off form, K* and I have a form that does most of the work for you. You'd just keep your name, but have a start point for points, and then an end point. Each member of your team would have the same and at the end of a term, the points would be totaled. Some idea of what we were thinking... teams up to 30 or so PC's, 10 ppl to a team, one person can have no more than 15 PC's. Mind you these numbers are just random, but they kind of give a base idea.

You could have something like a "Folders against Bush" subteam... would that bring in a few people?

I bet this won't be very popular here, but I have always been involved with pet fish. But there probably won't be enough interest in this.

As for the sub teams, I just don't really see it drawing in a whole lot of extra people....

I think the biggest thing has been the little text at the top of [H]ard|OCP website in the top right, and the hardfolding website again. Our production has gone up a lot since this has happened.

But then again, maybe im just overlooking something.
 
so like an AMD and Intel team could be created. Then they would bash each other until it completely destroyed the forum! Sweet! count me in! :D

i'd join the Folders against Bush subteam immediately (even before the anime one :eek: ), but i don't think dragging politics into it is a good thing.

and this is not to attract people, it's to keep them. We do a great job of recruting, just not of keeping...

1-19 Folding Punks
20-29 Folding Studs
30-40 (30+?) Folding Oldies

Yes, I'm in the middle bracket. Just an idea, make up some other names.

Only problem with age brackets is the younger will generally have less to borg and the college age (studs) seem to have more along with older ones who have businesses...maybe I'm just complaining because I would be put intto the young one :(

You are right, it’s come up several times but never really been implemented by more then a very few.

It requires egos and individual stats be set aside for the greater good, which is never an easy thing to do.
