Here is my dilema. I just recently built a new box and started having this problem. While playing EQ2 sometimes I lose all detail and the whole game screen goes black, dark gray, brown...just depends on the time of day ingame. I can click on the window resize box and the detail will come back. The other night I got a BSOD two different times as well. I believe this might be PSU related but wanted to check here before dropping $$ on a new one. System specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon64 3500+ s939
Abit AV8
1GB TwinMos 3200
BFG 6800 OC
Audigy Gamer
Maxtor 160GB ATA
WD 80GB ATA
Allied 400w PSU

The only things that changed from one system to the next were processor (XP 1800+), mobo (Shuttle Ak31), and RAM. I lean towards the PSU because I know the bigger AMD chips are power hungry. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would run memtest for good measure (www.memtest.org). Make sure the fan on your video card is still spinning. Make sure all the caps on your motherboard look good. Then..maybe try a PSU if everything else is OK. Also, before spending money, if you have a spare hard drive laying around...install a fresh load of windows on it and see if you can reproduce the problem.

Thanks for the replies so far. BTW, I am running a fresh install of windows on basically a brand new drive. I guess I should have mentioned I have 4 80mm case fans and a 92mm fan on my Thermalright XP90C. If anyone lese has anymore insight I would love it. Thanks!

I'd run memtest just as a precaution, but it's almost definitely your PSU. Allied sucks..bad. I'd get one of these: Fortron or OCZ .

Here is the direction you want to go>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Get a new PSU.

I picked up an Antec Neo Power 480....that should take care of the power end of things. I guess I'm lucky I didn't end up with a smoldering pile of goo before now with that crappy PSU. Thanks for the help!
