Ive started doing Podcasting recently, its where you download from a live music stream from a radiostation over the internet e.g hot 97.7 (something- i dont live in america :p )...anyways i can do it fine at 128kb but when i try 320kb the sound quality is WORSE...is this because my onboard sound is incapable or is it because my software is bad?

Thnx

3 things :)

1.) What is your onaboard sound(chip)?
2.) What software are you using?
3.) Sure you are getting all the packets from the host?
If it's live-streaming, perhaps their/your/combined/ bandwith jus't isn't good enough at the time?

hey :)

1) on the a8n sli deluxe motherboard its the realtek audio97 or something...
2) this software i got from a dvd called 'alive wma/mp3 recorder' - and yes ive set it to record as mp3 :)
3) and the bandwith was fine i suspect...i was testing it at a time which is quite unpopular for the radio station as i thought this could be a problem but it was the same at different times in the day

another question

i read a post about someone saying that onboard can only play upto 128kb sound? because i dont hear much difference from my 128kb music and my 320kb music :(

I have never heard of a soundcard or onboard being unable to play music above 128kbps

Maybe what you saw was that someone's onboard was so terrible that they couldn't tell a difference

You do have the current drivers, and set the software up to encode it proberly?

That depends a lt on your speaker config and you soundchip.
But I have no experince with that AC97, excpet that it sits disabled on my mobo *L*

But it shouldn't have any problems with 320 kbps MP3, that I am aware of.
