Hi, i have no experience in updating a BIOS. Can someone help me out? My computer always gives the BSOD and can only stick to 61.77 drivers. PNY told me that my BIOS is outdated. I can't wait for an exchange so i'm deciding to do it myself.
I need a step by step procedure on how to update the BIOS. I have a PNY 6800 Ultra BIOS 5.40.02.10.13. If you can provide the links for the updated drivers and tools that would be great. Thanks.

So where exactly on PNY's website do you see bios updates for the video cards? Cause I cant find em...

I have heard reports that if you e-mail PNY, they will e-mail the latest BIOS code back to you. Or, as an alternative, check out http://www.mvktech.net which has a lot of BIOSes and the flashing tools

I have 5.40.02.12.01 on my card. I edited my bios a little and gave it a little more voltage in 3d.

I have my original bios files if you want them.

You need NVFLASH. Search for it.

To use it, create a dos boot disk, and move NVFLASH.exe and your bios to that same floppy.

At the command prompt type: NVFLASH - A filename.rom

READ ALOT. READ MORE THAN YOU THINK.

Sorry for the caps but this is important. Don't fubar your card for 25-50 Mhz core either. If you are going to do it, remember you are putting your card on the line.. if its worth it, its with REAL SOLID upgrades to the cooling.. and much much preparation. Good luck.

Hmm, im gonna check out that page.

I know there are risks involved when updating the BIOS. Any tips on not to do while updating. Can it be fixed when i do mess it up?

So your original BIOS files are the you're using right now? I just need one that works with most drivers.

Ok, i checked the mkvtech.net http://www.mvktech.net/index.php?op...d=26&func=selectfolder&filecatid=67&orderby=4

It was weird because the driver that i have right now is the most recent driver they have posted. Does it matter with the Rev 01 02? Does it mean Revision?

Description: PNY GeForce 6800 Ultra BIOS
Card : PNY Verto GeForce 6800 Ultra
Chipset : nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
Version : 5.40.02.10.13 Rev 01
Memory : 256MB
Submitted On: 18 November 2004

Then the other driver:

Description: PNY GeForce 6800 Ultra BIOS
Card : PNY Verto GeForce 6800 Ultra
Chipset : nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
Version : 5.40.02.15.07 Rev 02
Memory : 256MB
Submitted On: 14 August 2004

Ok, im not sure which one i should get. If the most recent one has been revised then it should be a better version than what i have right now. Please help.

I have the same card and what I did was the following
I downloaded the second revision of the PNY bios, and it didn't work when flashing, it said that I have a different board installed
The solution? Search on the same site for the nVidia bios Rev .4(which is the equvalent of PNY's second revision), this works 100%. Only problem is that your card won't have the name PNY 6800 Ultra, instead Nvidia 6800 ultra...not a big problem.
I guess PNY was one of the firsts if not the first to recieve the chipsets for the 6800 ultra, all of them have very very old bios versions.

When you mean search, would it be on the same page under the PNY BIOS files or would that be on a different brand name? Cuz all i see on the the PNY with Rev 4 is PNY FX5900NU 128MB - Rev 04.

By the way, what BIOS version do you have?

Well i succesfully flashed my BIOS to 5.40.02.15.07. So far there are no BSOD when i normally had when i used to have my old BIOS version. So far so good. It might be a succesfull flash after all. I'll update if there are problems i come across.
