My computer starts to sound like the HD turn off and on real quick (Click-Click) and then boom I loose video but I can here everything still working...like sounds when I click or shutdown.
What would this be?
HD Failure?
DVI input going bad on vid card?
PS?
Static (have lots of it here)?

PLZ post an actual title next time. im sorry for targeting you, but the stupid 'please help me!; big problem' titles are really beginning to bug me.

anyways, sounds like a failing/failed HDD. what brand?

(future note (again, sorry for targeting you): post all details when requesting help. if you think its the hdd, then at least post the HDD info and specs. it helps the rest of us out a great deal if we have all the info to begin w/, so we dont waste time asking posters to post their specs)

Sorry bout the title, will be much more clear next time.
Well I found something new out just now I walked into my room to find the monitor off. I unplugged it from my ati radian 9800pro and pluged it back in and it came back. Driver failure?
I did up date my drivers a while back.
Winxp pro
1g ram
wd-80g 7200 8mb cache
asus kv7 se deluxe

The hard drive just makes like a click, then another one and bam shuts down the video.

This computer has been problem free for the first year.
Ty guys for your help so far :)

Better title next time promise.

double check your power settings under control panel about that monitor issue. it could be set to go off after so long.

still sounds a little like a hdd issue to me, also. i dont trust WD very much anymore.

and again, sorry about baggin on you. it wasnt directly aimed at you..... necessarily. :p

Yeah that was the first thing I check the power settings.
I just ordered another WD damn hehe but 163 peeps rated it 5 stars on newegg. This time I went sata.
I love getting bagged on, I consider it attention and any attention I can get is good heheh ;)
Take care and thanks for all the help!

dude.... youre looking for attention on an online forum... you must be REALLY desperate... :p

at this point, im next to clueless unless i got a chance to personally take a look at it and test it, so i guess well just hafta wait until someone else comes up w/ other ideas or you do some more testing.

actually, if you can, change/test the video card. if its losing VSync, theres a good chance its the card.

Yeah, I'm lonely...look where I live hehe
:(
Man I hope your wrong about the video card...
I'm pretty set on it being the HD cause everytime I hear the HD do a CLICK-CLICK and it sounds like it powers down for a short time then my video goes.

If you dump the SMART for the drive, what does it tell you?

I feel like a jackass...I thought I checked it but the tunr the monitor off was on for 20mins. I still have a HD issue, cause I hear clicks I never heard before and sometimes it turns the monitor off. I have plenty of power going in consistantly.
I'm not sure how to use the SMART, never have. I guess this is a good time to start. I hope it has nothing to do with using a floopy cause I don't have one :(

hehehe. told ya. :p

anyways. stupidity aside, lets get this issue solved. it definately sounds like a HDD issue, so go ahead and wait for that other HDD. then well see what happens.

just for the heck of it, could you test you graphics card. im 95% sure its the HDD, but thatll just clear up any questions i have or than anyone else might have.

Hehe yeah...thats why I double checked cause you said it. :D
Wish I could test the VC but I don't have a back-up right now. I have never had any problems when in games and man I put in the gaming hours....cause I have no friends :(

Get O+O Drive LED or SpeedFan. Run it, and then click on the "SMART" tab or command and read the numbers.

If you don't understand the numbers, post them here and we'll help you.
