Hello all. To the point ---- I have one HP zr30w (30 inch monitor). I have found a dell 2007fp on Craigslist for 50$. I'm considering flanking my 30 with 2 2007fps for 20-30-20. I want to make sure these will line up correctly with my main 30. I've heard of people using the dell 30 with dell 2007fps but never heard if it would work with the HP? Due to bezel/color/resolution? If all is good, I can buy a second used 2007 off eBay. Please advise soon. TY

Sorry. Quick question to add on here. What is the difference between dell 2007fp vs 2007wfp? Which is better for my setup with the HP center display?

FP is 4:3 (1600x1200), WFP is 16:10 (1680x1050). You'll want the FP in the 20-30-20 setup.

The 2007FP will line up with your HP 30" monitor no problem - I have a Gateway XHD3000, Samsung 305T, and Samsung 305T+ and they all line up with my 2001FP's (which are exactly the same size).

The 2007WFP is a widescreen monitor (1680x1050), which is *NOT* what you want. The 2007FP is 1600x1200, which is what you want because when it is in portrait mode the 2007FP is exactly the same height and vertical pixels as your HP 30" monitor. If you get 2007WFP's, there is only one use for them in PLP:

The 2007WFP has the same PPI (pixels per inch) as a 30" monitor which makes it work well on the top row but the resolution mismatch makes them lousy wing monitors for a 30".

Here's a crappy cell phone shot to give you an idea of what the Dell 2007FP will look like next to your HP ZR30W. As you can see I have the HP and I love it!!

Like the previous people said the 2007FP is 1600X1200 so when it's in portrait it matches the vertical resolution of the ZR30W.

I've read that there are 2 versions of the 2007fp. One is an ips panel and the other is PVA. Will it matter which one i get? Should both wing screens be the same version? How do I tell which is which by looking at the serial number?

Last question- I swear. So I picked up the 2007fp today and found another on Craigslist. I'm going to grab it tomorrow. If both monitors are same model (2007fp) does that make them identical? As I wrote earlier that some are IPS while others are PVA. Does it make a difference and if they are opposite will I notice it? This is my first PLP so thanks for the help.

You can check out Here for everything you could want to know about Dell Monitors, but I will save you the reading.

Your HP is an IPS Panel so you want a 2007FP that is an IPS, to get that you need to have a serial number that ends in the letter "L". If is ends in an "S" then it's a PVA panel.

Would the difference be noticeable? I will check the serials tomorrow...whoops.

I don't know if they would be or not. I have always been told "get the same panel type as your 30"

I got PLP 20-30-20 running great on windows7 64 bit. Its great but i have to say it is really bigger than i thought it would be. Takes up my whole desk LOL. But the resolutions and bezels match really nicely. Now im gonna try to download SoftTH software and run some direct x 9 games like Counter-Strike or something. Not sure if i have 2 IPS on the wings or 2 PVA- I have to check the serial numbers. But they look identical when running and thats what matters. Thanks for the help. So would 2560x1600 + 2x 1600x1200 =5760 x 4000? thats not right- 5760x1600? Help me my math is off. Any tips on SoftTH?

Never Mind on that resolution question. Do any of you have experience with SoftTH software? I downloaded 2.08 for 32bit games off the website. Im confused where to put the .dll file. It said to put it into the bin folder but that didnt work. It created the config file but when i started the game my resolution didnt show up. I think i put the dll file in the wrong folder. Does it matter if the game is running under steam? Oh the game is Counter-Strike source. Help me out?

SoftTH is a pain in the ass to set up, that's why I gave up my PLP in favor of 3x30". Besides, I play mostly DX10/11 games so SoftTH is of no use then. You're supposed to put the DLL in the same directory as the game executable.

Look at the last character of the serial number it should be either L or S. L is the LG ips and s is the Samsung PVA. I personally think the PVA is better looking up close but the IPS has a far better viewing angle. If you're like 5 feet away and standing up then you'll notice there's a yellow tint on the PVA which the IPS doesn't have. Up close their pretty similar but if you can help it you should match the screen type of your main for continuity. Doesn't make nearly any difference IMHO.

You can also do the finger test. Run your finger across the screen. If there's a lasting wake then it's an IPS. If there's barely a wake then it's a PVA. Best way I could find to tell the difference between my two 2007WPs
