Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
yes, of course I have SATA ports. I have a WD Raptor connected to one of the ports. Whenever the Plextor is connected I post fine, then before the XP flash screen comes on I lock up...nothing. There are no BIOS settings to change...
It doesn't seem to work with very many MB's or controllers yet. Here's Plextors compatibility list . You might want to check out the Plextor forum over at cdfreaks.com
I have had a similar problem. It seems as though it has to be on a different controller all by iteself or something and it can't be on a controller where RAID is enabled.
Here is what I found with my A8N-SLI that has both the nVidia controller w/4 ports and a Silicon Image controller w/4 more ports:
1. Enabling RAID on the nVidia controller w/the Plextor connected to one of the ports would generate lock ups like you describe. But if I did not enable RAID then it would work fine.
2. If I placed the Plextor on the Silicon Image controller w/o RAID enabled then it would also work.
It seems it has issues not only with specific controllers but if RAID is enabled on channels that it is not even using.
Guess this is what we get for being on the edge of technology w/the new SATA optical drives.
