Plexiglass Case Problems

I just purchasd an MGE plexiglass case from Newegg, and it looks pretty good. The only problem is that the motherboard standoffs are already in the case, and they are one short of what I need. I'm using an Intel D875PBZLK, and the standoff that is missing is the one near the PCI slots (the one that isn't in a horizontal row). I can't screw in any other standoffs because I don't have any and there are no holes for them. My question is whether I can safely leave my one missing standoff out? If I can't, what do I do?

You should be fine, I ran without 2 for a year in a prototype case I made. The only thing you should watch out for is to not push to hard on the area of the mobo once installed. (ie if it is right near the RAM be careful when installing a new stick) HTH

Thanks. The missing standoff was in a place that was pretty well supported anyway. Everything works, too. The case looks really cool, but it was not very well made.

Yeah, I always thought they were all important for grounding the motherboard. Then I realized mine were screwed into plastic.

i think the mobo in my main pc is only held in with 3 or 4, and it gets moved around alot, and i have had no problems, so you should be fine

They make some standoffs that have a flat bottom and affix to the motherboard so that the motherboard isn't just floating.. but it doesn't screw into anything.

Look for a few of those, they'll do the job just fine and you won't have to worry about pressing too hard or didily like that.

yeah the standoffs arent there to ground the mobo but to be sure the mobo only grounds threw the PSU, ina pinch ive just coverd the mobo tray with tape and skrewed it in, also if you know some one or some place that has a nail gun that uses shells, the little clip that holds the shell (like a bulit, w/o the lead) they are the perfect size for added suport between the mobo and the tray
