Now, I know if you cut into a piece of plexi glass, like scoring the surface or grouting out a pattern, and then shine an LED in from the edge, the pattern will light up. What I want to know is, could I use some kind of fairly transparent paint, and white LED's, to get a coloured pattern?

If you want it to look like stained glass, I suppose that would work. But, you'd need to sand the LEDs to get rid of the spotlight effect, so they shine uniformely across the surface.

Well, using multiple LED's should help eliminate that effect, I'd hope anyway. I don't mind if there's bright/dim spots(the dim spots won't be so dim, but in comparison to the bright spots they will be). Stained glass is basically what I want, but only in an outline, grouted out with a dremel.
