I'm currently using a generic power supply which came with my case, but I think it's about time I invested in a better quality one. I don't really have a preference in brands since I haven't really purchased a high performance power supply, but I know I'd like a 92mm or 120mm fan on the bottom of the unit to take air off the CPU.

Man, I miss search....:rolleyes:

...the PSU in my sig can be had from the egg for $44.00 with free shipping. Rails are spot on under load, measured with my trusty Fluke DVM, and the dual thermo controlled fans are very quiet and get the job done.

I've been very pleased with my Sparkle 350W. So far not a hiccup, and I've had this for close to 2 years. Antec is also good.
 
i'd vote Antec True power, i have 3 of them, 2 380's and a 430 (once again me being anyone remotely related to me that normally lives in the same household) and i also have a 180 watt antec psu that hasn't let me down yet
 
I would get an Antec True Power or Enermax Noisetaker. Antec True Powers would be my first choice probably. 350-450w will be more then enough power i'm sure. I've got the Antec 430w and its quiet, runs cool, and is rock solid.
 
Yet another vote for the Antec brand. I've been sold ever since I acquired my latest PSU, an Antec TrueBlue (TruePower series with blue LED's) 480 Watt.

As with everyone else, rock solid voltages and it's quiet. Plus, the bluish hue in my case is a major turn on for the ladies.

I was looking at this power supply for a long time and have read quite a few reviews about it practically exploding in customers' computers :eek:.

Yeah it looks nice, I'm planning on getting before summer, my current one isn't keeping my vcore stable(1.9 to 1.98 when it's set to 1.95 int he bios)

As long as you have proper ventilation in your case, there should be no problem with this.

I have a TruePower 480W, by far the best PSU I've ever owned. Will buy nothing but Antec from now on.
 
I got my 430W True Power a couple of weeks ago. I upgraded from a 350W generic and the performance of the whole system has improved greatly. I upgraded after the my system rebooted in mid battle in Planetside.

Though I think the 430W True Power will handle the newer video cards from Nvidia and ATI, I would look to upgrade to a 480W True Power or the 550W one.

Wow, I've never heard complaints about the PSU. As I stated, I own one and it's been nothing but perfect for me. Do you have any links to these claims?

I'm sure this is not a frequent problem, but there have been quite a few of these occurances. I was mostly looking around at reviews at newegg and such. Both the TrueBlue480 and the True480 seem to be giving some people problems. It's good to see TrueBlue480 is working without a hitch, though :).
 
hmm, I've got a True Blue 350W and it survived a flood (lower half of computer was underwater). still going good...
 
Enermax 460 with PFC active, i'm running it right now and it's rock solid, almost beats the antec 550 on the rail voltage, very heavy and the wires are braided in copper and plastic wrapping, a very nice PSU for the money.
