Looking to get a quality laptop to last me a long time.

Maximum budget $800.
Powerful i5 or i7 processor,
6-8GB+ RAM
1920x1080 IPS display
No heavier than 4.5-5lbs
Durable and not too thick/tank-like.
GPU doesn't really matter.

So far I've considered the Thinkpad t450s and Spectre x360 but I just can't decide.

Thanks.

We have a bunch of the T450s laptops at work. Usually we go with 12GB memory (8GB + 4GB) and a 256GB SSD. I haven't run into any problems with them, regardless of the CPU selection.
Even the integrated graphics are more than powerful enough to drive the 4k monitors we're rolling out.

Too bad your budget's not a little higher. The XPS 15 is a nice and small 4 pound laptop with 15" screen that starts at $1000.

I have the Spectre x360 with i7. I've had it about 7 months and like it a lot!

I just bought a Dell Inspiron i7353 for $799. 13.3" IPS i7 (6500U), 8gb ram, 256 SSD and touch screen weighing in at 3.7lbs. It's very nice and feels like it should last a very long time.
