I am having a devil of a time over clocking my new setup. At most I have been able to get 280Mhzout of it and have the system stay stable, or better yet corrupt my XP install.

Here are the specs of the system:

Asus A8N-E Ultra <Bios 1005>
AMD 64 3200+ <Venice core>
1GB Dual Channel Mushkin Black level One PC3200
MSI X800Pro PCI-ex video card
Seagate 250GB Sata Hard Drive
Maxtor 250GB PATA Hard Drive
Asus Wireless Card
Firewire card
(2) Sony 16x DVD burners
Seasonic 430W Power Supply.

I have tried what I think is everything <Including reading the FAQs> and I am truly stumped. The only wild card I have is I am using the stock cooler but temps have not seemed to be a problem. I plan on updating the bios<as I am typing this>. I have lowered the HTT to 4x, dropped the multiplier to 8x and even relaxed the timings on the ram. I am open to any suggestions.

Have you increased voltage to your processor? What kind of temps do you have?
 
I am running 1.475 volts to the processor, 2.9 volts to the Memory and Sisoft Sandra is report 34 Degrees celcius. It seems that anytime I try to exceed a FSB of 225 I have problems.

I can bump the voltage up a little bit. How much would you suggest? If this fails to work, I will just write it up as a poor over clocker and replace it with a more powerful processor later.

ram divider? if it works, might help you find your problem.
 
Definitley use a mem divider to make sure you are only ocing one thing at a time.... Adjusting voltage should be done in small increments and will depend on your personal level of bravery as well as how valuable the proc is to you. I paid 130 for my winchester and consider in totally replacable so I was extremely brave with voltage. For me if I go .15v on top of where I'm at and can't get any additional stability, I stop. Yes, I actually tried all the way up to 1.8 for my proc (at which level it wouldn't even boot). I've never damaged a proc by over-volting, but there are users out there who have.
 
The memory divider was what I was missing. Once I set the memory to 333Mhz, I was able to get 2608Mhz out of it and and stable in Prime95. .
