I just set up a new system.

After install Windows XP, the BIOS recognized the hard drive correctly (IBM Deskstar 60GB), but on Windows Explorer, it shows only 21 GB and i can't see my data there, eventhough it say only there are only few hundreds MBs available, seem like it just created a new partition on the drive...

I test the drive on another computer, same problem again, i use Windows disk check, Norton disk check... still no luck.

Please help, all of my data is in there, i can't afford to lose them... :(

In the worst case, i'm thinking about data recovering, can anybody recommend me a company reliable and have reasonable price for this service...

If you installed WinXP, the drive is recognized, and your data is not there, chances are:

1) You created a new partition where WinXP is installed, and your data is stored in the "old" one along with the previous OS. Try using the WinXP's disk manager to see if your disk has more than one partition.

2) Something went VERY wrong and your original partition is overwritten. Chances are very small that anything may be recovered from it. In that case probably the new partition is invalid as well.
 
Did you do an upgrade from a previous OS then? If so you can try to uninstall XP if you opted to be able to when you upgraded. It sounds like something fishy is going on so anything could happen. If you have access to another computer you can try to make a bootable Windows CD using BartPE and see if it can see what is wrong. You can read about and download BartPE here:

It requires a little work to make the CD but the website and the help files in the program explain everything so make sure you read through them if you aren't sure what to do with something. There are also many plugins available that increase it's functionality.

As far as data recovery there are programs that you can buy though I don't have any names off hand. If you have a company do it they will charge a lot of money to have it done. Depending on what you have lost it may be worth it but I think prices are around $100 or so for each Gb of data.

So you did an OS install on a pc which held critical data in your opinion and you never bothered to back up the data?
I'll save my comments before someone scolds me for scolding someone who did something like that.

There are data recovery services, they're expensive.
