Ok this is going to be a long post so be warned, and im not the best with displays but a longshot from a complete noob.

Ok i have been looking at monitors for literally days looking to find the perfect 22" monitor i read so many reviews and after doing all this i decided that i wanted dual maybe even triple monitors. I thought that 22s where a bit to big and also too expensive since i live in uk it would cost me about 440pounds about 900dollars or so just for duals. So i started looking at 20.1s.

First i would like to know how easy it is to setup a tripple monitor as at the moment i have a 7800 gtx with 2x dvi port and s-video. Im unsure if this can run both dvi and s-video at the same time im then unsure if the s-video will just become a clone monitor or not and what the quality would be like. If that doesnt work what are the alternatives other than going SLI because the graphics card has been discontinued can somebody advise me on this? I dont have any AGP ports just PCI-E and PCI. If this process will be too hard i will simply go with duals but even then i will need some advice on the best monitor to get.

Why would you even consider 22" when they are only TN panels at that size? I definitely think TN to other panel technologies is noticeable.
 
you can use both dvi's, but not the s-video. To use triple monitors, get a cheap pci card, preferably nvidia to save you some headaches.
 
I quite like the real estate. Ok will any nvidia PCI card work? will there be any problems with drivers or anything? any recommendations?.
 
I run dual 22" monitors. So what. They are TN panels. I can't afford to get the nicest AS-IPS monitors out, and nothing I do is color critical. So... it doesn't much matter. The price is right, and the panels are really nice to me.

Back on topic... all you would have to do in order to run triple monitors would be to get some cheapy PCI graphics card to run the third monitor on. Something like a FX5200 or the such. I would stick with an nVidia card just so that you won't have both camp's drivers on your machine at the same time. Then plug 2 of your screens into the 7800, and the other one into the PCI card. Done deal.

Yes... any nVidia PCI card will work so long as it can display 1680x1050 (all the ones you can buy now should do that without issue). So... get the cheapest one you can find.
 
Ok thanks for that guys i will find one asap. Now onto my 2nd question concering the monitors. I curenntly have a Samsung SyncMaster 913N 19 which is quite old now had it for nearly 2 years i believe. Living in the uk monitor prices are quite high so the idea i had was to use this monitor along with another of the same that i can pickup off a friend for 80pounds about 160dollars and then get a 22in which i was looking at the HP w2207 which would cost me around 210pounds roughly 320 dollars i would get the Samsung 226bw apart from the lottery idea seems kinda gay and it would cost me 230pounds roughly 360dollars.

The question is would the hp look out of place with the two samsungs either side of it. Is there a different monitor anyone would recommend? Or even a different setup? because i dont have to go with these 19 saumsung's i could buy 3 new 19s or a multitude of different combinations. Opinions please!
 
Another question which could end up being stupid is i have a spare pci-e slot could i use a different graphics cards in that slot along with my 7800? for example a 8800? and would this cause any problems?

I do believe that you could run another PCIe card in that second slot so long as you are not running sli.
 
Can anybody tell me if they have done this before? run two graphics cards in the PCI-E slots without any problems without using sli? if so this would be the best way to run 3 monitors for me?
 
So can anyone tell me if i can run two different graphic cards on the two PCI-E slots i have for example my 7800 and an 8800. I dont want to buy a 8800 if i cannot use my 7800 gtx because its a waste really until any good dx10 games come out. So let me know if i can if i cant ill get a PCI card instead and can someone also look back at my other question about monitors setup thanks again!!!
 
Ok maybe i am impatient but i really wanna try get this setup sorted out ebcause ive spent ages researching but i need to know these couple of questions

Can i use two pci-e cards at the same time even if they are different cards not in sli?
what is the best pci card avaliable is it the 256MB nVidia GeForce 6200 PCI or the FX5500 Geforce 256MB PCI DVI ?

Once this is decided what setup do you think would be best monitor wise like mentioned above i have a Samsung SyncMaster 913N i can get another for 80pounds which could be my two side monitors or any other suggestions then i would like opinions on my middle monitor either 20.1 or 22 im currently looking at the hp w2207 but it is black next to two silver monitors?
 
Still not really sure if two different pci-e graphic cards can be run at the same time
